An Idea I wanted to toss up for VFRDiscussion...ites
Christmas is going to be thin this year so in the spirit of maximizing buying power,
I'm in for a $20 spot via the convenience of PayPal, for example, to get some "in-house" Rider Feedback on this new unit by contributing with the goal of supplying
a fresh copy to none other than, you guessed it -Hispanic"Miquel"Slammer-
I don't want to know why he doesn't ride a 6th gen, (unless there's a hidden red somewhere) I just want to head "SkuuterTrash" off at the pass! (I kidd)
Seriously, can you think of a more deserving CEO, dare I say "Poobhaa"
There it is, if this takes off, so be it.
Less than 1,000 folks and a local to HS Acct. Sec. needed
I'm in on this. This site is tons of help, and HS does a great job of keeping this place running...

And how's your bike doing? Get it back? I haven't seen any pics posted...

HS hasn't just helped me via this site, but also has personally done so- he was the one who found me when I totalled my bike at Tmac, he waited with me, found me a tow, gave me a ride, and sacrificed some serious riding time to do everything in how power to help me.
I'm definitely in for $50.
What's the running tally? Over $2500 in less than a day...?
The only thing I'm concerned about is that it should be clear that VFRD also needs funds to run, and this should not be used instead of donations to the site.

I think we have adequate funds for the website, lemme check......
Quote
Goal Name 2009 Estimated costs
Start Date Jan 1 2009, 12:01 AM
End Date Continuous Goal
Goal Amount 1500.00
Amount Received 3692.95
Goal Summary monthly fees, registration fees, renewal fees
Looks like we're ~$2200 to the good for VFRd.
I am in for $50 and I might pose a small suggestion-If we can raise enough and cut a deal with a dealership let's buy two and auction one off for the site too! If we can do that I am in for $100!

Folks, please add your name to the list so you don't get lost in the thread! one of our great mods will be around to trim the fat, I'm sure, so don't be afraid to populate the list!
This is a fine idea and I'm down. In fact, I thought I mentioned this in another post a few weeks back. Worst case scenario we could get him a 2001. ;)
Can I be next in line if this becomes a big VFR Ponzi Scheme? :fing02:
Post this in the 7th gen fourm or Other MC talk and it will get more eyes.

It's a good start for a few hours time. The 7th gen is a long time coming and your work on this site just calls for it. Don't know if you're a millionare or just
sentimental to gear driven cams.
You or one of the Mods know best how to get this broadcast throughout this site.
Shamelessly, take the ball and get it done. I know there are enough cool folks here to accomplish this by the time dealers start taking delivery.
A holding acct. manager of your chosing Or as mentioned, if a dealer/member can start the holding account, all the better. Even better if you know him Miquel.
I see marketing value here. I can't think of a better "Group Buy"

If it is all coming along, and I get that new job tomorrow (final interview went pretty well yesterday) then I'd certainly help. HS is certainly going to have fun come tax time!
We did this on the FZ1OA once several years back, and bought one of the members a new custom set of Kushitani leathers. (sp?)
I've been on this site for 7 years. Though I'm not a very active member with posting I like the idea, so I'm in.
I'm not against the idea, dunno if Miguel is up for it, I mean, he does what he does for the love of VFRs and the community at large and has never asked for a thin dime in return.
He's got a big 'ol heart and maybe it's time we gave something back???
I'll set back awhile and see what happens, and if it looks like it's going to get off the ground, then I'm in for a Jackson.
Besides, Miggy's got 120+k on his old bike and just dumped it in the Kansas mud, so maybe it's time to be put out to pasture!

Heck.....if we do not get enough people to donate, I would be willing to go $50 bucks if we had enough people willing to do so. Then we would need only 300 members to come up with $15,000, which should be enough.
HS has done so much to give us this website.......and it is the best motorcycle website by far!!

Quick question though, will there be a PM sent with the account to send the Paypal to when the time comes? I have to admit I'm not very good at monitoring threads once they get long and I'd hate to miss payment.

I'll do my best to contribute for HS.
How about we take care of the bike, and you get him a spare key or two in case someone borrows the bike and loses the key?
Well, we could just start a PayPal account and we all put in whatever we want $5, $20, $50 and so on. The account would have a running total that we all see and when we get to the goal it's time to buy. Of course if he buys something other than a VFR there would be some hell to pay and a lot of guys who can put in some serious miles on their bikes to track him down.
I'm in. But I'm honestly not sure why Honda isn't calling him and offering one for at least a very extended test ride. This is one of a handful of sites where people who will buy this bike would go for advice. It's nuts to think that Honda is not reaching out.

If anyone has an in with Honda, a major Honda dealer, or is just damn industrious they can take the lead in getting him a steeply discounted one or a employee purchase price. That way we'll reach our goal much earlier. This site was instrumental in getting me back on a VFR and off a Ducati.

$50 seems to be a growing trend so next time someone updates the list, put me down for $50. I've had at least 50 bucks worth of entertainment from this site.
A Plan: If you were buying a bike for a friend and money is an option; you'd shop around.
With the network of dealers that WE are collectively acquainted with, as the possibility of this thing coming together maybe a low mark-up dealer could be found.
I am acquainted with three different dealers in my area that I plan to talk about this plan (pretty easy to show them this site) to see what they would be willing to do. Not the newbie trying to put food on the table, the owner or sales Mgr.
We're just talking here, and who knows how the 7th will be received. A recent Honda stop I made on the East Bay had close to 10 current K-CBR's in all colors including a Repsol edition for $13K list. He still had a nice blue Fury on the sidewalk (that I would gladly store in my garage  ) and a lowly all Blk DN-1 (says he hadn't sold a single one, meh)
I don't think that Cali is going to be the best "low-ball" market so check Your market ( a great way to talk about the bike) and see what can be done about having Miquel needing to buy a one-way plane ticket to an airport near you!
It's looks like the 7th Gen is going on tour for the up-coming Moto Show so I may see it in San Mateo 11/21

Is it time to have this thread pinned?
Honda East of Toledo always has good advertised pricing, but though normally don't wheel and deal below that. It's a bit far from you guys but once dealers get stock we can all shop around find the lowest price. It would be nice to see honda step up and help promote their bike.
Another thing not mentioned is what version of the vfr 1200f Miguel would want. I would imagine the manual touring version so we can get a full review.

but has to bring it to PNW meet next year
It could be true. I've heard of several folks that got great deals at that dealership. I'll be passing through there in a couple of weeks for the Arkansas ride. Just may have to stop in.
Hey, HS is just painting his bike and making it the way he wants it. Maybe we should just get him a Toro charger for it. http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Y'all just hold on for a few days before alternatives are discussed...
I'm working on a proposal with someone. :warranty:
In the meantime, REMEMBER FOLKS! .
We're only looking for pledges at this point, and that all the t's are crossed and all the i's are dotted before we do anything...

Thanks for continuing with this Greg. I for one really hope we can do this.
Just sent you some money, Miguel. I've been laid off so I wish it could have been more. We all appreciate what you do for this site and the way it brings good people together. You meet the nicest people on a Honda
Not sure if anyone's ever done it, but I wanted to say thanks to Bayarearider for starting this topic in the first place.
It's really something the way this community has come together around this. Would it be worth considering having a page on the site listing everybody who's donated? Sort of signing the flaf...
