I was surfing the web at work yesterday, and found some awesome looking brackets that take the stock footpeg bracket, install a plate where the bracket goes, and then bolt the bracket to the plate in two of the eight or so holes that are on that part of the plate.
Now, I cannot seem to find the site, pictures or any information. I want these plates, badly, and would like to be able to find them again.
The terminology for these is called "rear sets". Most are made to move the pegs from the stock position further rearward and higher for more ground clearance. Most vfr riders are looking for the opposite (lower and more forward) hence not many companies make rear sets for the VFR but there are a couple.

These weren't true rearsets though. Rear sets replace your footpeg, bracket, and shifter/brake lever. These were literally just plates of either aluminum or steel that relocated the stock footpeg bracket. I am 6'3" with a bad leg, I would like them further down, and forward (I think) to make it more comfortable. I like the knightsdesign ones, but really like the rubber of the stock footpegs.

I've never seen those brackets made specifically for VFR's and I don't know why someone hasn't jumped on what I think is an easy market. Two other options are BLS footpeg mounts or get a set of buell pegs which need slight modding to fit but drop them about an inch. Thurn (Germany) also sells an adjustable peg.
A big benefit of true rearsets is they move the gear change and brake pedal along with the pegs. The solutions above just move the pegs or peg brackets which can lead to clearance/room issues specifically with the brake level since it's not very adjustable.

TwistedThrottle.com and the item(s) are mfw vario footpegs.It doesn't sound like what you explained but pretty clean nonetheless.
Just a suggestion... When I see something I like, I'll just do a favorite's save on it till I know what I want to do with it... In a lot of cases I'll relegate it to bookmarks later....
The plates by thurn in that post are what I was looking for, but apparently are no longer being made. I think I will end up going with the lowering blocks as seen on here, from BSL I believe.

This is what the Buell pegs look like. I think I paid about $30.00 for the pair and it took maybe 15 minutes to modfiy them to fit. I've had them on for about 8,000 miles and really like them. Not sexxy, but they're affordable and do the job.

I have the MFW ones with the 30mm bracket on my 5th gen.. they seem to work well.. the only issue I have is that my brake lever is a bit low (I have my pegs straight up to let my legs get into the tank more).. Install was easy and I'm not nearly as worried about scraping my pegs anymore.. Check out http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com I was going to get their set but they were unavailable at the time but he had some old MFW parts around and sold them cheaper than twistedthrottle.com
I decided to go with the Buell mod. It was cheap enough, and the HD dealership is right down the road. Thanks for the info guys! I will post here to let you know my experience with the pegs.
