Looks vs Practicality. Givi E52.

Had the OE Honda rack installed this morning as part of the 600 mile service. Decided to see if i could fit my old weatherworn Givi E52 top box to the mount. The new mount is all alloy with plastic inserts under the hand holds, presumably for pillion comfort. Very sturdy and robust. There are 4 plugs to remove that expose 4 threaded holes (possibly M10) and with the aid of a Dremel and some pins that fitted, i managed to get my universal adaptor plate to fit. The top box fits fine - even if it does look pig ugly. Adds a new realm of userbility to the bike. Will report on any issues if they pop up.

Looks pretty good if you ask me. On the other hand, use some of the money you saved to buy some paint and make it look even better:

Would look good painted white

I've been thinking of doing something similar and getting one of the big Givi boxes. The OEm one is pricey and not very big.

Do you get any strange buffeting or weaving with that on?

Hey mate, is there any chance you could write this up in some more detail and put it in the How To section for modifications? It would be very helpful for the next bloke!

To be honest - there's not much more to fitting than the above description. It's a bit suck it and see type fitting. The key is the universal plate. If you can get it to line up with the holes, it fits, after a fashion. Then all you have to do is find some bolts to fit.
