Kung-Fu Panda problems.

So, on the recommendation of you guys, I bought a Kung-Fu GPS and it arrived today. It's very shiny-shiny, but it doesn't work!! When I select "GPS" the screen starts flashing and I get an error message in a dialog box in the middle of the screen saying, "Failed to load file IGO\420_287\loading.bmp exiting program" and I have to turn the machine off to stop it.

I am emailing the guy and he's trying to be helpful but he seems perplexed by my explanation and I'm not sure he's going to be a lot of assistance.

I'm guessing that there is a splash screen that comes up when IGO8 first loads and it's a .bmp file called "loading.bmp". If this file is not found I'm suspecting that either the programme hasn't been loaded onto the unit at all or that the installation is corrupt.

Any ideas?

if you can connect to it with your pc perhaps you can upload a bitmap image to replace that missing image.

Yeah, and I can also check to see if the programme has, in fact been loaded on to it, couldn't I?

Thanks, I might try that. I'm going to give the guy the best chance I can to fix it first as I believe it's his responsibility to do so, though.

:+1: It may be that it has to be the same size as the screen resolution, not larger. If that doesn't work ask the seller if he can send you (ftp or some file sharing service) an image file of the SD card so you can reinstall everything yourself.

OK, I've connected the unit to the computer and there are (amongst many others) 3 Folders called 320_240, 480_234, 480_272. Now, in the 480_272 there IS a file called "Loading.bmp" I am guessing that the numbers represent scren resolutions so V4Rosso is on the money by the looks of it. I bought the 5" screen version (because I could) so I wonder what the screen resolution is for that one? Anyway, that's something for me to look at and talk to the vendor about.

So, any thoughts on this? I was just about to pull the trigger on the 4.3", but I'd rather ride than debug.

Is this likely to be due to the 5" screen, or is the whole thing a bit brittle?

Your first post says the error is "Failed to load file IGO\420_287\loading.bmp exiting program". Are you sure it says 420_287?

Mine is still going strong. I did have a problem where it wouldnt boot up, but I went far enough in the menu to fix it. Other thatn the speaker not working, it has been some of the best 60 bucks I ever spent.

If anyone is on the fence about these things, feel free to check it out at the Tmac, as it will be affixed to the yellow peril.

UPDATE: After trying (unsuccessfully) to solve the problem playing email ping-pong, I finally got the guy to agree to take it back so that it could be fixed. A week away in China and returned to me working like a charm. Haven't tried it outsid yet, but it all seems fine

Will do a report once I have used it.

Sorry, I missed this thread. Prob the path to the IGO directory was wrong. Make sure you copy the entire SD card and the Flash disk directory in the GPS as a BU

Now that I look at it, this is prob the issue. There is an init file that specifies the resolution, this looks like a dyslexic typo for 480_272
