Delkevic Exhausts on Ebay are a Bargain!

Most of you have likely seen the Delkevic pipes for sale on Ebay at what seems like extreme low prices. I researched them a bit and recently bought the 14 inch stubby stainless version for my 97 from Steelsnewparts for $159.95 and could not be more pleased with the pipe and the service I got from them. They accidentally sent me a standard length pipe, and when informed of this immediately sent out a stubby pipe with a pre-paid return shipping label. The pipe was an easy direct bolt on install and is beautifully made and as good as any of the extreme expensive pipes that I have had.

I have tried a few pipes on my VFR. Initially I tried a Staintune high pipe which looked great but just did not perform that well. Even after richening my pilot circuit it had a stumble off the bottom. I then cut my stock muffler down to 12 inches and retained the remaining baffling for a great sounding, good performing pipe, which sounded similar to the Staintune but deeper. There is a thread on here somewhere with those details.

Just for fun, and to lose a few more pounds, I installed the stubby Delkevic and am very pleased with it in every way. I shortened the connector pipe by two inches to bring the muffler in a bit more just for personal preference. The baffle is easily removeable and it has a deep resonating sound to it with or without the baffle. This pipe with clamps and connector pipe weighs 2.6 lbs less than my stubby OEM pipe, which would likely be around 6 pounds lighter than the stock pipe.

I bought a Dekevic standard length Ti pipe a while back for my 1997 to replace the Yoshi that was on it when I bought it. The Yoshi was a bit too loud for my taste at city/highway speeds. The Dekevic is deep and throaty, but not noisy unless you're wringing out the engine a bit.. :biggrin:

Get it up around 7-8000 and it really starts to sing, but below 5000, it's not something that bothers the loud pipe hating crowd (I'm one of that crowd)..

And I love the looks, too!!

So I have been looking at this pipe for my new to me '00. Bike came with a D&D which is just too loud.

Looks great but what do you do about the rest for the center stand? I would be afraid that it would rattle around without the rubber stop that is on the D&D pipe.

Any thoughts?

Hi, The are copied exactly from the standard headers so if there is a centre stand stop on the standard headers there will be one on ours and vice versa.

I would like to start a thread for a group buy on these. The supplier in Australia only has four left and they are looking to clear them out. If we could get four people together I'm sure we could knock him down on price. I'm thinking if we buy from the Australian distributor we'd after be in Australia to get a good price as postage is a factor. Or maybe we can get a good price from the US distributor?

I like the idea of a group buy but I have to say that I am ready to pull the trigger on this almost immediately. The more quickly I get that D&D pipe off the bike the better.

Was planning to clean up & repaint the original but when I spotted this for just over $250 w/shipping, in stainless I jumped!

OEM lists for over $1400! Ron Ayers sells them for $959.98... HOLY CRAP!! :ohmy:

I hear these are supposed to be really prone to rotting out, so I have my nice original with just minor surface rust needing TLC if anyone needs one.

Fits like the original as it's an almost 100% carbon copy of same.

It came with a polished finish which I didn't want so I asked my brother to blast it matte for me... forget now which media he used, "Duh!" Have to ask him.

I painted the head pipes VHT 'Flat Aluminum' which matches the stainless nicely :fing02: .

I'll try to snap a pic and post it shortly.

I put a standard length one on my 99 before the riding season started here in WI. I am very pleased so far. Not too loud but with a nice deep tone.
