Almost done Little help needed

Hello all,

I am almost done putting the bike back together, I will post a picture of all the new powder coated bits but first I have a question. I put the subframe back on and have all the wires accounted for and mounted except for the coil pack for the rear cylinders. Does anyone have a picture of its mounting position? I cannot find any pictures in my photos and I also looked through the manual and could not find anything.

Also on another subject should I not put the yosh pipe on until I can get the bike rejetted? I read that the bike runs lean with the pipe before like 6000 rpm. Lastly is it necessary to loosen the head pipes to put the yosh on? I almost got it on by myself the other day but just couldn't get the last pipe in by myself, I felt confident that if I had a hand that it would go but I would like to know for sure.

From the pic in the shop manual, it mounts on the outside of the frame, on the battery side. , right above the battery actually.

not sure about the jet kit. but from what i have read, jetting is recommended as well as aftermarket air filter.

and as long as you are using stock shock, the yosh should line right up and go on.if using OTHER shock might wanna make sure its not hitting shock linkage. that is what mines was doing..

I do have a K&N already just no jetting done. I don't have the stock shock on anymore I am using a cbr600 shock modified by jamie, and it does interfere with the shock linkage just a bit, but once fully on it looks like it will clear just fine.

I did get some time to work on the bike again and I figured it out. I mean the it was so simple I thought I must have been out of my mind no to figure it out the first time.

I am closer than ever to firing up the bike now, just put on the new x ring gold chain and my refurbed master cylinders and the front brake lines and clutch lines.

Another question though what oil is everyone running these days? I need to oil her up before I can see how she runs.

i actually have the same shock...and i found yoshi is hitting shock linkage...my solution is to get some "pipe extensions" (auto store - gotta get long ones and cut them down) so i can add a few inches to each header and into yoshi pipe so it clears linkage. Not sure of you are doing F2 rear conversion on it or not, but if you run the STOCK shock the yoshi will fit with no problem, but rear ride height will be off.

also would you be so kind as to snap a few pics of the routing of the wiring harness and both sides of bike so i can see what goes where. I would really appreciate it.

So let me get this straight, you are extending the pipe so the collector sits between the rear wheel and the shock linkage? I am almost sure that even if I had the stock shock mounted the pipe would still hit the same spot.

I do not have a F2 wheel conversion although after all the money and time I have into this thing I might as well have done it.

I will definitely take more pictures pf the wire routing for you, I'm just waiting on a chain riveting tool and need a lower gas tank mount.

Oil is my big question lately though, I did run mobil 1 yellow top 50wt I think or some thing like that but that was years ago so whats everyone running now?

that is correct, right between the rear wheel and the linkage(better to modify exhaust than try to modify shock)...since you have the stock rear wheel you can use the stock shock which is actually shorter than the my modified shock. jamie can probably clarify this(not sure if he cut yours special or not), but the cbrf2 rear wheel(i am using) is "shorter" than the vfr rear wheel, the longer shock raises the rear back up the vfr stock ride height. by using the stock rear wheel and the longer modified shock you are actually RAISING the rear ride height higher than stock. and if you use the stock shock which is shorter, you can slide the yoshi pipe right under it..trust me...

I really appreciate the more pics...thats where i am now.

Interesting, I did actually have Jamie shorten my shock length do to the fact that I was running the stock rear wheel setup. I actually have a picture of the 2 shocks side by side and they looked the same length.

Although I did not measure I did eyeball cause I recall Jamie saying that the longer length would pose a problem. Sorry about the poor quality of the picture this is when my camera mysteriously decided to start taking purple photos.

Actually after looking I through my pics will post another pic also, this is when I first got the yosh (since been polished) and still had the stock shock on. I was just seeing how it looked but you can clearly see that the shock linkage is hitting the collector area. Also this is a good representation of what your extended collector would look like approx.

Have you actually had this modification done to your pipe yet? Please post a picture if so, thanks.

it looks to be the same. maybe thats the difference, cause i told him i was doing the f2 rear swap. not sure i will see if i can get a pic or measure real quick.

Yeah the modified is about 1/2 inch longer.

if i remember correctly i loosened the 2 front headers and pushed the exhaust all the way, as far as it would go, and then tighted the headers back up, placing the collector in front of the stock linkage. when i tried that with the modified shock, it would hit the linkage and i tried other methods that didnt work..it wouldnt connect to one of the headers...that when i realized it was hitting the linkage. no i havent gotten the "extenders" yet. but will post pics...

Here are a few pictures of the harness for you. The only thing I was unsure of was the location of the fuel pump relay. If you find a better spot or the right spot let me know.

Well I spent a couple hours on the bike today, some progress some disappointment . Anyway here is the progress, I bleed the clutch line and the rear brake line no problem, front lines I have an issue. I have a new

braided setup that is 2 lines straight from the master. Well I get fluid at the brakes but no pressure at the handle. I am going to look and see if I by chance put the master back together wrong. I did however get the new

grips and the new bar ends on, they look good. Lastly I tried installing the exhaust again and this time I took the bolt out of the lower shock link and the exhaust slid on but would not go all the way on. I come to realize

the one pipe is on a funky angle. So I am now wondering if I cut up the yosh pipe and weld back together or do I just start from scratch and make my own. Here are the current pics enjoy.

As far as exhaust do you have the modified shock on or the stock shock?

I am facing the same problem with exhaust, maybe "extending" the headers will give you the clearance you need.
My thing is since you have a usable exhaust, no sense of recreating the wheel. Just modififying the existing exhaust to fit might be an easier task.

Well I have the modified shock but the shock is not the reason the pipe doesn't fit, the pipe is actually welded crooked not allowing it to slide on all the way. Anyway I

am really convinced that it is a bad design and could do better. I mean I honestly know that they (yosh) could have made it fit better ie; not making the whole pipe one

piece. So here are some interesting things about the yosh pipe versus the stock. Both start out at 1-3/8" where they bolt on the header, the stock pipe immediatly

goes 2 into 1 , the yosh doesn't go 2 into 1 until about 6" on the one side and a little less on the other. I was thinking that this effectivly lengthens the headers a bit

moving the power band further up but may be the reason for the so called flat spot. Also the stock pipe goes two 1-3/8" pipes into one 2" pipe the yosh on the other

hand has two 1-3/8" go into one 1-5/8" pipe. Thats a pretty big difference in volume and a bit odd that the better flowing pipe would run a smaller diameter. Here is

another very odd bit of information the stock pipe goes back into a 1-5/8" pipe then a cone into the muffler, the yosh goes into another collector and the output is

2-1/8" then a cone into a muffler. Whats all this mean? I dont really know as I do not have design software for exhaust, I did however find it very interesting. I do

however have a company looking at making me a collector I designed to fit the headers and I think I will use a combination of the 2 pipes designs to make my own.

Any input would be great, and I do know about exhaust pulses and scavenging effects and all that, what I really would like to know is what the laser exhaust

measures and where the first collector is placed. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
