So i plan to cut off the stock mufflers from my exhaust, make new ones out of stainless tube, and put em back on, as a straight through design. And im going to make a uni foam filter out of the dirty stock one.

I was thinking rejetting would probably be in order. Has anyo e done something similar, and what did u run for slow jets? Idle screw turns? Drilled slides? Needle shims?

Any jet kit you buy should have instructions. My 86 700 had had a stage 1 and stage 2 kit. Since I only had a modified exhaust the stage 1 was used. The Stage 2 had some additional modifications to the air box etc... PM Wheatie on this forum. I sold him the bike and all the spare parts. He may still have the stage 2 dynojet kit in a box somewhere. Good luck. I love those vfr700s. Wheatie can flat smoke me on his sometimes. His has the CBR F2 forks and wheels. I highly recommend that mod as well.

I have been reading different reviews on the jetting of the 2nd gens...some for, others against. I heard factory pro jet kits is "better" than dynojet, plus they come with more jets. i know at the other vfr site, some of the "2nd gen gurus" will try their hardest to talk you out of jetting it.

edit: just noticed you were in Illinois also...i am in south suburbs of chicago...

The 700 I'm parting out may or may not have a jet kit in the carbs, want me to check?

Yes, please do. Would u sell just the jet kit parts or the whole carbs? I dont really need the whole carbs but i can provide my stock parts if that helps.

Ok, it looks like the mains are 118's. So maybe ill throw in some 120 or 125's and see how she runs. Is it 2.5 turns out on the idle circuit, or just 2?
