What Brake Pads Are You Using?

So I need to replace both front and rear pads on my '99. What NON-race spec pads are you guys running? I am not looking to install some super grippy, one finger lock, ultra-race pads. I am not at the level to where I don't grab too much front brake at the wrong time :goofy: and the last thing I need is a brake so sensitive it exacerbates the situation. Maybe the Galfer 1054? The EBC double H's are sintered and probably too aggressive, right? How about the EBC organics? Thanks, Wesley

I've been using SBS HH pads for years now (since 2002) and love them. I tried Ferodo once, I thought they were awful!

I tried using a ceramic pad on the rear for better instant-grip but the thing wore out super-fast, so I stick with the HH pads at the rear too.

EBC HH for years. Love them

I have been using EBC HH pads for years. They work well.

Stay with sintered metal pads with an HH rating, if you want good brakes under all conditions, oem is good enough for me.

Stay with sintered metal pads with an HH rating, if you want good brakes under all conditions, oem is good enough for me.

EBC HH is all i buy now....

(add this question to the long (long!!) list of silly questions I've asked this forum) Does HH mean anything in particular in brake pads names? Is it a rating or just the name?

EBC HH.
Never a problem. Have them in all three bikes, and I like them fine. I was told 20 stops from 20 mph to break in. Seems to work. :fing02:

Thanks Mac. I may need to replace mine soon and I haven't started looking into it just yet. Maybe over the winter, with all the other maintenance items.

Just replaced mine last Friday - Honda OEM. Works for me.

Ok guys, thanks for the recommendations. Double-H pads it will be then. Found a nice site that sells them for $26ea front or rear, better than $45+ on ebay. Thanks, Wesley

Another ebc HH user , wouldn't use anything but.

For about 5k miles now;
Rear Ferodo platinum organic. Very nice
Front pads: Don Carbone Lorraine sintered A3+. Very excellent.

Just today I paid $49.00/pair x 3 = $147.00 plus tax at my local Honda dealer. Needed them fast, and had no time to order on line before I leave on a trip.

Was this for EBC brand or other? Got a link? The EBC HH's are usually in the $40/pr range.

I also drank the EBC kool aid this year and have no complaints. I had no complaints really w/ the oem pads either. Not sure about the 5th and older gens, but the VTEC comes from Mother Honda with HH grade(sintered metal) pads.

I've used OEM and EBC HH pads. Honestly, haven't noticed a vast difference between the two. The OEM ones seem to last longer but other than that get whatever is cheaper.

That intial waffle shoe , really cleans up the rotors too , That extra $5 provides a very quality pad to me. But nobody buys OEM. EBC looks like cheap junk compared to the OEM

I just had to do all 3 sets, the front two costed me $95 OTD at my Northern Honda, I got a discount, I was expecting over 100 with tax

I heard some of the older VFR have GG rated pads
