Just started riding my '95. First thing I noticed was that the clutch would only start to engage around 75% released. Thanks to the wealth of info found here, I ordered a new Spiegler line and thoroughly cleaned out the slave cylinder and master cylinder. Took it for a test drive and the difference is like night and day. It's so much better that I had to come here and say thanks!
PS: Spiegler had the new line to my local shop in less than 24 hours. It only cost a few dollars more than I could make it myself, and I didn't have to do any work. A+ in my book.

Interesting....my '95 clutch is the same way. Engages way out in lever travel, like yours did. The friction zone is tiny and it makes proper clutch control and smooth shifting quite difficult. Bled the line several times now. It's not spongy at all, just hardly any friction zone. Seems to be getting worse too -- I've just been assuming I need a new clutch.
Can you explain more about what you mean you say you cleaned out the slave cylinder and master cylinder? What benefit does a new clutch line get you?
