Here's a test of some "Roadsters" vs some super motards on the track and on the street. The Motards came out on top. Except for the french, some unnecessary crotch grabbing and lots of cow crap on the street, it's a cool vid. Man that looks like fun!

Great link :fing02: kills me it is 26 degrees in the morning now... I want to ride.
#4
Wow! They really use that rear brake. I would've high-sided.
#5
BTW, what exactly is it about the motards that allows them to rip so well? Weight? Narrow design?
#7
Ha!, on the 2nd last ride Carlos joined us on his new Versys. Guy was laughing the whole way... and yes we were dodging COWS, and idiots passing on an uphill, not just manure... duude!

By the way I LOVE that song!

Are they spinning the rear tire due to superior technique or because of the excess cow crap!

I just don't know how they do that rear tire slide thing...anytime my rear tire even slides a flippin millimeter I pukcer up big time!

Again w/ the French, but this is one of my faves.

I'm sure this would all make some sense if I could understand French.

Yeah bit of both of those, plus the seat (allows you to get your weight over the centre of the bike, or indeed wherever on the bike you want), and the biggie - ground clearance and lean angles like nothing else.

Great vids :fing02:

Basic's.... Back in the mid 70's they'd just take a dirtbike and put street tyres on it, but the thing to remember is these are set up for 100 mph or less.
The faster you go the less grip,so this style riding(dirt riding on pavement) is limited to lower speeds to control the drifting "when leaned over at the angles the high clearence will allow".

My thoughts exactly.

In the second video the guy in black is not very smoooth and is basically just showing off. You can see he enters the corner sideways and the comes to a complete stop at the apex. He isnt smooth and that is not the fast way round.

It takes many years of dirt riding to get use to sliding. When racing MX there are many situations where your brain says let off the gas, you have to re-train the brain to gas it.

Its pretty wild. I went to a few races back in socal in the mid 90's and it was awesome to watch. To be able to corner like they do they probably run a harder compound tire and use a light weight motorcycle that has a good amount to torque. They are also very skilled and our out of their minds crazy!

IMO, he was doing fine until, like you said, he started showing off and trying to get his elbow down. He did pull it off though! Looks like it was just a track day anyway.

Not knocking the guy, just saying. Ok knocking a bit.

It is easy to slide the rear in. The trick is going from sliding, brakes to gas all in one fluid movement. You can see the yamaha guy isnt nearly as wild and is actually quicker.

Looks like a cart or scooter track.

These guys are just waiting to get peeled. About 4:30 on, it starts getting twisty. At 5:00, they come up on a sport bike and send him packing.
