Show us your nuts!

What kind of lug nuts do you have on the back? I recently bought a set of chrome locks- mostly because it was the only thing I could find with only four. Anybody using Mugen lugs? I'd like to see what you guys are using, and if three other people want to go in on a set of blue post X-Mas I'd be all for buying a set then splitting it four ways because I only need four. :)

Not committed on these yet. Long way to go...

Just get your powder coated. I did two years ago and they still look like new.

I really don't feel comfortable using aluminum lug nuts on a VFR.

Yeah, I know, the ricer tuner dudes use them on their Civics and Mitsus, etc, but IMO, that's 4 wheels, and I only have 2.


Now the Ti ones look wicked spendy. :fing02: Too steep for me tho....

Lightweight lug nuts for a VFR? Isn't that like getting a Double McWhopper with cheese, bacon, king size fries and... a diet coke? :comp13: :laughing6-hehe:

My goal is not to lighten, make faster or boost performance- My goal is far more important....I want them to look bitchin'! Lol And Veefer800Canuck, a very valid point as usual :) I'll stay away from lumies

The sets of 20 are 270 bucks...but that is 5 VFR rears... makes them a little more than twice the price of online (service honda). Probably not even twice the price from the local dealer. Group buy?

If you're going by the link I found, the $270 is for 16. If you do the math on either the 16 or 20 sets, the actual per unit cost is 1 cent off buying a single one. No advantage to buying a larger set and splitting it up.

Right, but rather than one guy ponying up however much, if you divide it by 4 or 5 guys, it hurts less, by my math, anyway... : )

those Ti lugs look conical... I thought the VFR's specified the acorn-style lugs?

I've got some chromed Honda Civic (?) nuts on the back wheel of my '01. They cost me ~NZ$16 for the set of 4 (or about US$3.70 :goofy: )
I put them on solely because the standard ones were looking a bit manky. They've been on there a few years now, with no problems at all. However (but!) the seat is a different shape, and they don't torque up quite the same.[image: Posted Image]

The angle's not too much different - it's just a longer taper as you can see from the pics. Also the chrome seems to have a bit less friction than the zinc-plated OEM ones. As I said, they've been on there quite a while now, and haven't loosened up so far.
Would it make you feel better Rob, if I went out to the garage and gave them an extra tweak?

Giving your nuts an extra tweak wouldn't hurt, as long as you are gentle. :biggrin:
