Well I really did try to sell it over the winter, but after getting shafted (twice!) on Ebay and nothing on Craigslist I was able to convince the wife and keep ahead on the bills, so she stays! The trade is I need to sell off some of the original bits that I was going to keep to fund any mods. That said, I was able to find a complete front off a '91 FZR1000 and started off down the hole...
Heres what it looks like - the lower stem bearing are the same (30 x 55 x 17mm), and the uppers are very close but the stem length is not close enough. I believe I can use the FZR upper triple by pulling up the forks in the clamps ~0.75" but will need to swap stems - anyone know a good place to do this?

The bad news is the offset drops from ~50mm on the VFKR to ~30mm on the FZR, and the steering lock is probably no better than the RC51. I will play with the radiator to see if I can pull it in closer to the frame...
Onward!

Don't know much about those bikes, but it looks like a great project bike to me.
Good luck! :fing02:
