A few of us on the UK forum have had warranty claims processed for a crack in the right rear underseat panel. The crack appears where the rear brake master cylinder resevoir hose runs under the edge of the panel to the rear brake mech. I have had one panel replaced and the replacement has now cracked and is currently being processed for another claim. Any of you guys noticed any cracking?
Cracked panel.

I had forgotten that I had the same problem - I am eleminatig everything I do not like. After one week ownership of the VFR1200- in August 2010 - I had also crack on the rgiht rear underseat panel. It was replaced and it occurs not a second time (so I hope).
Best regards
Ralf
I just cleaned then inspected my 1200F for any cracks in the tail cowling plastics and found none.
It seems to be a limited batch. I'm guessing some panels are thinner than others. Had a new one fitted yesterday under warranty. Looking forward to spring now.
I ran across a new one in the dealership last week that had a crack in the location you are referring to.

I had mine crack in the same spot!
Honda did NOT cover mine under warranty...BUT my dealership swallowed the cost of the panel!
Before I installed the new panel I sanded along the inside of the panel at the point where the other panel
cracked, i used very course sand paper (100 grit) and i put a thick layer of epoxy along the area to (hopefully)
make the panel stronger!
I also bent the bracket for the hose in a wee bit to not push out on the panel!

I thought some kids must have been climbing on it, I replaced it, but this makes me wonder.
If the panel that I believe you are mentioning is the right of the rear fairing VFR 1200 F 2010, I tell you that I have the same problem. Photo attached below. Please confirm.

My dealer took pictures and sent them to Honda last week. Saturday, my dealer called to say Honda will send them a new panel. I'm not sure if it's the same part number but I'll try to find out and post.
Thanks for all the great information. I would never have noticed without this post and forum.
I want to thank the president of the dealership MINAS MOTOS and Marcio, shop manager, by the effort together to get another panel in the factory Honda. I wait the panel already makes 33 days.
Mine is cracked worse than that.
I bought my bike as a dealer demo and the first time I washed my bike I noticed mine is cracked, I didnt think warranty would cover it so I never took it in. It only has 1300 miles. I will try in soon and see what they say.
My panel is also cracked.
Yup mine shattered in three places!
Could the panel be cracking because of seat pan movement? Those stock seats seem to be pretty thin; a big guy would make one move quite a bit when sitting on it..
Mine is not cracked, I weigh in at 165.
I have the same problem, I've just washed my 1200F (2011 mod) for winter storage. I discovered that I also have a crack in the right rear panel. This is a warranty issue.
I sent an email to honda dealer yesterday when I discovered the crack panel. I got a response today. They have ordered the new panel, 2-day delivery. And they say that this was a warranty issue. no problem
