All 24- Engine oil recommendations I use Mobil One 10-30 extended mileage oil. Have 64K miles on the 1200 in the 100 Texas heat with no problems yet. I change it every 3K miles with the OEM filter.
- ABS malfunction on 2016 bike. agree on the battery causing a code. But, you need to see what code it's showing to understand what's happening or wrong. Without it, you're really shooting in the dark. Did the Honda dealer tell you the specific code…
- The veefalo she is smoking. *valve cover oring* There are two o-ring seals on both head covers for the PAIR valve air joints. One of those on the back head cover fell off. To me, it seemed like it was burning oil vice leaking it. Page 9-8 of the service manual shows…
- The veefalo she is smoking. *valve cover oring* Same here...60K miles with no oil burn. I change oil and filter every 3K. Only time I had an issue was during a valve inspection when an o ring on the back valve cover fell off while putting the cover back on. It used…
- Intake Valve Carbon Build Up Over 54,000 miles, too, with no problems. As stated earlier, I use Lucas fuel system cleaner every 3,000 miles or so.
- Intake Valve Carbon Build Up I've seen the same thing. I use Lucas cleaner (approximately every 3,000 miles) and it seems to work. I've done three valve inspections and the first was the worst given that I started using Lucas after that.
- If You Have More Than 50,000 Miles Or 80,000 Km On Your Vfr1200 2010 VFR1200F with 54,000 miles. No issues at all. Check valves @16,000 mile intervals and so far only one exhaust has been out. Brake pads @ 25,000 miles. Oil is Mobil 1 full synthetic, 10w30 every 4,000 miles. It's a…
- Any Known Non-Dct Tranny Failures? 52,000 miles and none...still shifts smooth. Haven't heard either.
- How Many Miles On Your 7Th Gen? 52,500 miles since I bought it new in Nov 2010. No maintenance issues at all. Completed valve inspections at 16K intervals and only had one exhaust out of tolerance so far.
- New Gear For Socal Riding (Stich Vs. Motoport) I've had an aerostich one piece since 1999 and put over 125K miles in it. I've ridden from 20 to 105 degrees comfortably. For me, the heat at 105 degrees was tolerable with the venting and only thing I did differnt was…
- Anybody Else Regret Buying Their Vfr1200? Don't regret the purchase. However, I did buy a custom seat which moved the riding position forward about 1&1/2 inches and also lowered the pegs an inch. Both made the 1200 more accomodating to me (I'm 5'10") It is a…
- Ohlins Spring Rates I have a Penske with a 1100 lb/in spring and weigh 150 lbs. It works great and the shock was a significant improvement over stock. It really helped settle the back end down, especially when pushing the bike through the…
- Fuel Range I get approximately 38 mpg in mixed riding and on the back roads. Straight highway riding I can get up to 42 mpg at 70 mph with no headwind. The bike has 23K miles on it and the fuel numbers have been pretty consistent…
- Seat Recommendation? I have a Rick Mayer seat and would recommend it. I, too, did not like the stock seat and after about two hours it start to hurt. However, while the Rick Mayer is not nirvana, it does allow me to ride 8+ hours at a time…
- VFR1200F Valve Inspection Just checked mine and all were in spec... One exhaust was slightly tight but within in spec and one intake was slightly tight but within spec also. I only checked the exhaust roller side as well...you don't have to…
- Hey Honda Agree...would like to see adjustable footpegs. I bought a set from Thurn and, for me, they have made a big difference in my knees and hips. Also had Rick Mayer work on the seat which moved up the seating position some…
- Peg Lowering.............. i have a set from Thurn-Motorsport. Lowers them 40mm and uses the stock pegs...have been very satisfied. www.thurn-motorsport.de
- Russell Day-Long Seat I had one on my VFR800 and put about 100K miles on it. It looked a little funny on the bike, but it was a good seat. I could ride for 8 hours with no problem and after that with some discomfort, but not much...could…
- VFR 800 VS 1200 I put a little over 120K miles on a 98 VFR before I got a VFR1200 which now has about 12K miles. Initially, the VFR1200 takes some getting used to due to its weight and that the stock suspension and tires are not that…
- rear shock compression damping i found the stock shock could not keep up with the rebound and, too, felt the wallowing and almost jacking, espeically when pushed hard. I put a Penske shock on and it really "cleaned" up the lack of rebound making the…
- Rear shock I have a Penske with a 1100 lbs spring. I weigh ~150 and with solo riding seems to be stiff enough. The Penske has made a significant difference for the bette in how the bike handles. With the stock shock the rear would…
- How many miles did you get on your oem vfr12000 tire? I've got 5K miles out of the rear and it's time to go. I was not too impressed with the Bridgestone tires...will look for something more sport oriented.
- Cracked panel. not on mine...have 5K miles on it as well.
- Got a quote today I just paid $13,399 plus tax in IL. Others wanted about $14,500 plus tax. There are several in this area and as we move in winter, my guess the prices will get better.
