At 9000km and finally decided to put on my 2CTs. Changed the front and rear.

The experience has made me put almost 400km.......in city driving in 2 days!!!. Its almost like I have another bike. What a REMARKABLE difference these tyres have make. For me, on my bike, they have make the steering so much sharper, precise and lighter.....I can't imagine how I survived with the stock Bridgestones that came with the bike.

But if that was all then it would be ok but there is more; these tyres inspire so much more confidence.I can feel everything that's happening on the road surface. And the precision is amazing.

They get my :fing02:

Sounds good, but can I ask which 2CT's you installed? PP or PRoad 2CT's?

IMO the PP2CT is a waste of money vs a standard PP rear and if you installed PRoad 2CT's the PP are even quicker steering! :fing02:

As said in the other thead I just ordered a set of PR2 CT's from Jake Wilson... where I usually get them from DK where they are listed just as PR2's (no CT mentioned)... They look like the same tyre to me, is it just the supplier's wording?

Yes,
The PR2 is a full 2CT tire and it's molded into the tread(2ct).
Michelin's label actually says Pilot Road2CT and for years one of their front D.O.T. Race tires was called a PR2, other front was a PR1 or PRC and they had a PR3, PR4 & PR5 rears. The PRC/PR5 was my fav track tire set! :fing02:

Thx for the great x more info........... For any of you new guy's that that don't know Baileyrock's history with tyres, 1st thing he's a kneedragger and lives where the roads are some of the curviest among us, and he uses up his tyre in half the mileage most of us do(there are some others in that area and elsewhere that ride the same as BR, but doesn't record the wear info to pass along to us like he does). Yes he has gone though a lot of other brand's as well.

Now, BR, Last year you were testing the PR2's F/R... then the PP F and the PR2's R....... What is your choice at this time(I tried to decipher from this above but didn't see what you're using now. And are you going to try the PR3's ?

My favorite set-up at the moment is the PP front/ PRoad2 rear!
PP's sets are fantastic for my riding style and area, BUT with PP rears only lasting an avg. of 2200 miles it has just gotten Too expensive to replace tires at that rate. At 80k miles on my 02 I've burned thru no less than 35 rear's on this bike alone, that's no less than $5K in rear tires alone!
I ran a full set of Pilot Road 2CT's (after 10+ sets of PP's) and pushed them as hard as I've ever run with No Grip issues whatsoever! The only issue for me was that the PR2's have a slightly rounder profile which slows Turn-in (compared to PP's)and after 25000 miles of rippen twisties on PP's I was used to really fast Turn-in. This is why I switched to a PP front with a PR2 rear combo as it quickened up the Turn-in about 50% for me over a set of PR2's and I get at least a 50% improvement in mileage w/o loss of grip. :fing02:

With this set-up (PP/PR2) the ware rate is 1 to 1 so I replace them as a set at an avg. of 3300 miles.

I plan to run this set-up until I can't find them anymore especially because the prices seem to be dropping maybe because of the PR3 release!
At $228 a set delivered I will Never change as this combo has proven to be the Best performers for the money period! That's Grip, Wet & Dry, handling, wear and confidence for the Buck .

Good post and good explaination! I used to do the same thing on my FZ1 as it was a real rear tire eater! I have a full set (F/R) of the PR2CT on the VFR now and was wondering what combo the "spirited" riders (I'm one too) recommend. I don't need them yet, but will by mid summer I'd think. I'm debating whether to order them now with the pricing DK has on them or wait.

I got the PR2CTs. I chose these because I figured that a "sports" tire like the PP is probably made from a softer compound and would wear out faster. Am not a kneedragger but its good to know I got the better deal. Thank for the info, BaileyRock! :fing02:

Hey BR, where are you getting your tires that cheap? I've been checking around, but haven't seen them that low.

Thanks for all the feedback too. :fing02:

I'm about due for a new set of tires. How are they in wet weather? Not that we have any of that out here...

I find both the PP and PR2's very good in the wet, some of the best IMO.

Did a brisk sprint this weekend.

I hate to admit but I did do some flat out runs during my 500+km run. :lobby:

Noticed my rear tyre temp rise to 172F with the front hitting 130F. Bot tyre were inflated to recommended values.

Question: are these type of temperatures OK? Ambient was 98F.
