Fairings

Hey Guys
I am a new VFR owner. I bought a Red 02 with about 14K on it, and it has Stanetune exhausts. I really like the growl. I bough this based on the constant infomercials from my cousin, and have not regretted it. I have yet to use it to its potential. Anyways, my question is about fairings. I am in the process of making it mine, and I would like to get a new fairing kit. My search has pointed me mainly to off shore suppliers. I have seen a few here in the U.S. My Question is, has anyone had any experience with these suppliers, do you have recommendations? Any help would be great. Here are the links that I have found.

I see it's also ABS equipped, nice plus!

Those Chinese body kits look decent, but fit & finish is not Honda levels and mount points are Very weak at best. Several members here have installed them and given their feedback so if you use Google search and include VFRD in the search title you'll find the threads.

How do I put a pic of my bike in my profile?

Top left corner of the search bar is the "Signed in as ...." tab. Click on that.
Top right just below the search bar is "Edit my profile" tab. Click on that.
In the middle left column is the "Change Avatar" tab. Click on that.
Resize your picture to 128x128 pixels and save it. Remember location saved.
Select "Browse" and go to the saved location.
Click open when you have selected your avatar and the board takes care of the rest.

I decided against the Chinese fairings after hearing all the horror stories of them arriving cracked, panels not lining up, big gaps in the joining areas of panels, mounting points being the wrong size thread, or not having any inserts at all for the bolts, mount points being way off and not lining up, mounts snapping off when you try to force-fit the panels, ets, etc.

I bought some lightly scratched but not broken body parts off EBAY and had them painted instead. They fit, and I'm far happier.

Did I spend more? Absolutely, but it's one of the smartest moves I've ever made, IMO.

Nice cycle had a 6th Gen set of fairings on special for the same as it would cost you to buy the dubious Chinese fairing kits... don't remember color scheme, but, might be worth a look.

I know a guy that bought an inexpensive fairing kit. He said that because they're not as thick as OEM plastics, the areas around the headers get a little warped from the heat. He said the way to eliminate the problem is to get the headers coated (with I forget what) and then get them wrapped.

I admit some of fairing kits look cool, though.


Here's a 6th. gen. VFR like yours. If what you're after is a different look, a number of small changes can freshen up the bike's looks: Pinstriping the wheels, a custom front fender, black brake carriers, and a black rear sprocket. The windshield was also cut down.

Where would you suggest I look? Do you have them?

Nice Cycle does look like the best option. A coworker's got a Chinese kit for his CBR, and he's afraid to touch it during the cold months, as it's thin and brittle. His bike looks great, but did need some modifications to fit properly. He said he wouldn't do it again. Nice Cycle appears to be better quality material, and while a bit more expensive, they are [relatively] local with actual customer service.
