I'm getting close to changing from a ZZR1400 to a VFR1200 and seriously thinking about the DCT option. I've had a couple of test rides and much to my surprise i really liked it. Just wondering if existing owners could share their experiences to date. My main concerns are:
1) lack of control without a clutch e.g. tiding at speed in the twisteis, controi in slippery conditions etc
2) reliability - with 2 electronic/hydraulic solanoids, additional ecus etc
3) service costs/issues
Any feedback appreciated especially from DCT owners with some miles under their belts.

Not sure if this is the proper place to put this but wanted to put my two cents in. To a degree it is a performance bike, why can't Honda put the up-shift and down shift buttons on opposite sides of the handlebars, think that makes more sense than the way they have it set up now, just like a car, right side, up shift, left side, down shift, there can be no accidents, well within reason anyway. It's not a turn signal, it would be to change gears and they should be separate, that's what I think. Does anyone else agree?

I think the issue is (and will always be) having to add that kind of manual function to the same grip that you need to be twisting dynamically would be a very bad thing. Best to keep one set of dynamic controls per hand, period. ...imagine how awkward using the clutch would be if it and the front brake were reversed.
Yeah. Not sure about a shift direction on each bar. Some BMWs do turn signals like that, and I couldn't get the hang of it.

9600 miles on my DCT -- 1) plenty of twisties and just click away - non issue ; slippery coditions right hand control otherwise get TC
2) Honda Honda Honda - 5 years in the making - I have clicked the shit out of this bike - hasn't broke yet
3) Cheap compared to BMW/ no issues - not one
Can't wait for the vfr1200T or cross runner
Here's how I feel about the bike :cheerleader:

Yes, for some strange reason, did not dawn on me. Guess that is a good set up. Thanks :)

Funny you use this example b/c I LOVE that style on my BMW for turn signals but think that I would dread having the upshift button on same side as my throttle hand. :comp13:
