Asked this question on another V4 Forum but most guys have shafts so no real definitive answers.
The bike is an 83 Vf750F, I have swapped the 18" rear for a Vf1000F 17" rear and it fits well. Only thing I had to do was swap the rotors.
Want to install a 150 on it as thats where the selection in modern compound radials starts. The Bridgestone BT-016 I'm looking at is 6.30 inches wide inflated. I measure 6.75 inches between the chain on the left and brake stay on the right leaving a nominal .45" total clearence. Since the tire is centered that will leave approx .225" or 5.7 mm on either side.
This seems to close to me, but I really don't know.
If you have any real world experience in addressing clearence issues, or can point me to a website/page that does I would be grateful. My search words have not pulled up much.
I converted my '86 VFR to CBR600 wheels and ran a 160 out back. The brake torque arm was super close to the tire, even after notching it. There was enough room for a 5 dollar bill but a 10 wouldn't fit!
The tire will grow radially at speed, so it will actually get thinner as you ride.

Knew somebody would ask that and rightly so.I have a 2.5 inch rim up front. When I bought the bike it came with a Conti Force 130/70/16 radial paired with an IRC140/70/18 radial that is no longer made.I put over 4k on that set going from Maine to North Carolina and back. I'm no Rossi but I rode 151, 215, 276 and yes the Dragon etc. hard enough to blow out my right peg, my passenger peg is there currently. So, what am I going to do? Still keep looking for the specs on a Fireblade front rim to see if its at all possible to mount on my bike. I have also looked at the website for the guys who widen rims for around $375 or so IIRC, which may be the best move.I really like the way my 83 handles with the 16" front and my Vf1000R also. Maybe I'm nuts but this is the direction I'm going in now instead of a 17 - 17 setup.
Any thoughts or suggestions or ideas always appreciated. Thanks.

Avon still makes a 120/80/16 radial but after going through 2 sets on my Big Sabre I am not a fan.
If I'm not mistaken the Fireblade 16 in front is 3" wide, but I have no idea currently if this would ever work. I cannot seem to find the specs for this rim, shafts size, hub width, rotor pattern etc. I think its a longshot but I'm looking anyway.

And they're exactly the same as a CBR600F3 / 94-97 VFR750 front wheel, with the exception of being 16". Rotors are 296mm in dia, bearing ID/axle OD = 20mm.
