I apologize if this has been posted, but my new issue of Motorcyclist arrived today and I've been sliding out of my chair since lunch..

Under the heading of "Coming Soon" is the RVF1000. Partly based on the VFR12 it looks like the bike a lot of folks have been wet-dreaming about.

BR or HS or whoever: please fix my snafu - replace the close paren with a 0. :(

Yep, buts its still nice to look at!
#5
so a blade with a V4 engine? Someone has been taking too much medication.
#6
It would be nice but will beleive it when it's in the dealership. The back wheel does not go with the bike and that wheel if I recall correctly was supposed to be on the new VFR in 2008 or 2009 and again no new VFR each year. Don't know about you all but part of motorcycling for me is noise and the V4 in the sixth generation sounds great, at idle and when it's singing four valves per cylinder and everything in between. The new VFR sounds like a inline four, don't know why because it's a V4 but it's not as appealing to me, like the seventh generation but sound is a big deal to me. If it's made sure hope it doesn't sound like the VFR. Hope I did not complain to much.

Yep,

It's not so much the photo, but the fact that Motorcyclist (as opposed to other rags which shall remain nameless) is out on the limb talking details that makes this seem more likely. As some pointed out, smart gamblers would hedge their bets. However, like the F1 track (with MOTOGP in 2013) in Austin, I'm willing to get just a little excited even though it may not happen.

Eeeuuw......... that swirly whirly styled rear wheel's just the one from the CB1000 and It's ugleeeeeee, IMO!.............and most likely really heavy too with what seems like more material on it to produce those fat swirls..... Let's hope it stays with the CB. Give us nice spindly spoked forged wheels instead Honda!

I just want it to say RVF, American Honda blew it with the RC51 already!
#12
Honda ready to PLAY BALL again !!!!!!!!!!!!!
#13
That back wheel reminds me of the back wheel on Skuuters DN01. Did that just blow it for some of you? :laughing6-hehe:

I have yet to see a good rendering of what this bike will look like. I'll wait for the real thing. And there ain't no way in hell its gonna have individual lug nuts! I'm betting it won't even have an SSSA!

So Motorcycle thinks Honda is going to sell something like this, when there's already the RSV4 at my nearest Aprilia dealer? Or the soon to arrive Tuono V4?
#16
Any insight into what appears to be a frame member running vertically up and bisecting the tank? I can't even begin to fathom what it is holding together. Overzealous photochopping?

Motorcyclist predicts this as a super high end homologation special ala RC45, and that it will be twicw the price of a CBR1000. They also state it has DOHC and the same bottom end as the RCV212.

think it will come in flat black?

Twice the price of the CBR1000? So basically a toy for a few rich guys, and the rest go to race teams? Pointless.

OK, so it is a crap photoshop job, but I really hope that the article content is correct. If Honda builds another V-4 superbike in the same vein as the RC30 and RC45 (even if it is 1000cc), I would definitely be game unless the price is astronomical.
#21
I'd trade my bimmer if this bike was real....

The RC51 came about to beat Ducati at it's own game. Honda did it to Ferrari in F1 cars back in the day. It's POSSIBLE that they see the Aprilia engine as the one to beat now in WSBK and with the V4 the hot setup in GP, it could be on their mind to show that the V4 is their baby and no one is going to beat them at that. You can sell street bikes by winning races with the hopped up street version or you can sell a brand by winning races with a low volume, high ticket, only for the wealthy racer like a RVF1000.

Either way, for some reason it's devastating to me to see an RVF1000 in production.

Looks like I graduated and got a job just in time! "No, honey, our first big purchase *won't* be a house"

An RSV4 Factory runs about $21,000. If (and it's a big IF) Honda come up with better or equal performance and get close to this price point - do you still think it's pointless?

That's a good question. And I think my answer is the same, with reservations; most folks that want to spend that kind of cash on that sort of purchase want a more "exciting" badge than Honda. But what do I know.
