Leaving for the Dragon next week..  I am looking for a motorcycle friendly campground just North of Deals Gap.  We will be coming from Indiana and would like to stay North of Dragon.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For a little bit more than a camp site you can stay with VFRD's Tmac host the Franklin Inn.  Its a great ride up 28 from there to the Dragon.

I will be out there first week of July. My wife and I are looking for some good roads. Slammer gave me some GPS points but if anyone wants to ride (if you don't mind a Connie14) I am game!

If you really want to enjoy your trip, don't just settle for a campground!

http://www.ironhorsenc.com/

This is the nicest in the area.
It is super motorcycle friendly.
The owners are great people.
I have never heard a negative comment out of anyone who has ever stayed here.
I used to visit some BMW buddies who often stayed there.

It is twenty miles south of Deal's Gap on US28.
There are two campgrounds close by one is directly on US28.

http://www.ironhorsenc.com/ is about a mile off of US28, so you don't hear the traffic of the highway all night.

I rode down to the Ironhorse lodge to drop off another forums mascot a year or two back. Very nice looking place, and the YZF/thundercat guys I talked to raved about the food there. I've been going down to Deals Gap for 5 or 6 years now, the first year at Fontana village, since then  Katriders rents out all 3 houses here for the week http://www.thetreetops.com/ .

Do the dragon once then go exploring, There's so many great roads down there I feel bad for those guys that ride down to do the dragon then come straight home.
