I did some searching on this forum and didn't find much at all..... The PO of my bike mangled one of the air stacks, so I bought a new one from Honda. I have tried many different configurations and can't seem to figure out how this thing is going to fit? My best guess says to take off the metal base that sits on top of the carbs, put the stack in place, then lower the metal base and tighten?
Any help would be appreciated! Especially help via pics :biggrin:

Checked Bikebandit to confirm my memory.
Carbs installed. Fit metal air box baseplate.
Install hold down straps with screws.
Install air horns, as I remember their are 2 sizes and they go in corner pairs, i.e. opposite corners. Wish I could remember which size to which corner (tall and short).

My bike is a 1992; so I'm 99% sure that all 4 stacks are the same height. I think after 93 they went to different height stacks. I was concerned about having different heights so I measured them and they were all the same. In the parts fiche Honda only has 1 part number listed for the stack anyway.
I can't figure out how the 3 little lock tabs will go into the carb mouth... Somehow you are supposed to position the stack, and twist the stack so that the lock tabs are forced into place. I was thinking that one of the lock tabs is supposed to be taken off, since 2 of them fall into place pretty good, but the 3rd one doesn't. Don't wanna remove the 3rd lock tab until I hear yae or nae.
on my 97 its.....remove metal baseplate amd while its off the bike insert the all 4 stacks into the baseplate. make sure all the tabs are under the plate. carefully lower the whole assembly into the carbs. wiggle each stack until it makes its way into the carb body, once they all start going in. set the plate down. i like to lift it back off a little to double check the o-ring gasket is still seated nicely

I figured it out a few days prior to your reply; It was exactly the procedure that you suggested. I would have posted sooner but my account was deleted in that server mix-up or whatever happened. Its all sorted now though.
