Hey good story and those are a couple of quick passes!
I was at race city years ago with the 800 for a trackday. Had lots of fun wicking it up around the roadcourse. But that big wall on the outside of the carousel, just before the main straight really gives you pause for concern!!!
Anyhow, I kept the pace fun but not insane and had a good time. There were faster guys and slower guys, I just tried to be quick and smooth without going balls out and risking a crash. It is a STREET bike after all.

Yes 1st and 2nd are derestricted with the GPS hack. Only other performance mods are a Leo slip-on and a PCV using the Jardine map.
Next time I'll leave the bags on for sure! That would be way more humiliating.
And with the new ECU mapping the bike will be even faster.
I wonder how a DCT would do on the quarter mile.
Very impressive. What times were the magazine testers getting? (although I'm sure the ECU changes helped considerably over stock).

Nice report!
I'm running the 2 bros map; felt it was a tad smoother than the Jardine. But they are almost the same anyway...
Seems like removing the plastic resonators made the intake noise a bit more, but no performance increase.
The GPS mod was for sure the best mod you can do for this bike.

We have Bandimere Speedway for our 1/4 mile fun but I've never thought about putting my bike out there on the grudge nights. The thing that impressed me most about your runs wasn't top speed or your win over the seasoned guy but that your times are so close, especially for a first timer. Great job.

Thanks I appreciate that. I can't take all the credit for it though... the 1200 is really easy to get off the line. The bike made me look good.
Launches were never my strong suit on my 600RR racebike. Seemed I would always bog or wheelie it. A roadrace start is a completely different level of intensity though.
As far as magazine times... in the real world (particularly at 3400ft) you can add a second or two to those. As someone said, those are with a pro jockey @ sea level.
it's interesting that stock RC24 did 10.9..25 years ago :)

Umm the blackbird is running 10.04, and thats about what other magazines have achieved as well :) I had the RC24 for a couple of years, believe me that bike is fast from zero :) could keep up with new 600s without problem, the surprise in their eyes I will never forget :D RC24 was just so much ahead of its time...
