Mine has a taillight flasher and a headlight flasher. I think they both suck, honestly.
The flashing headlight thing just makes traffic see me in their rear view mirror, and then slow down, probably thinking I'm a cop. (You think they'd move out of the left lane, but no.) And the tail light flasher just seems silly. If I'm slowing down for a light and then decide to let off of the brakes (maybe traffic in front of me isn't braking at a constant rate--surprise surprise) and then get back on, I don't want them to go from flashing fast (before I left off the brake) to flashing slowly (after I get back on the brake). The short version: if I thought I could remove them easily without making a mess of the wiring (the previous owner spliced the taillight flasher in), I would do so. I've never owned a bike with a flashing headlight or taillight before the VFR, and I've been just fine.
Also, I'm probably a little salty about this stuff since both low beams on my VFR died, and I'm pretty sure it was the high-beam flasher that killed them. It took me a while to figure out that it was just bad bulbs--I was sure that there was a wiring problem or an issue with the headlight modulator.
I have a different version that solders in to the existing wiring. I put one on my Sportster an one on this bike right when I got it. The version I have makes the rear turn signals into running lights (and still flash for turn signal) and flashes the turn signals when the brakes are applied - like a lot of semi trailers with LEDs are set up these days. Check your lights every so often. without me actually touching one of the sockets, the bulb contact eventually started to arc to the socket and would periodically quit (heat related...)
I think they're a great idea. anything to increase visibility. I have no use for the "stealth" approach to riding.
I'm not a fan of head light flashers either. I find the 6th Gen dual low beams are plenty bright to draw attention in the day light. I did add an LED modulating brake and tail light to mine, mounted under the rack for the OEM top case. It flashes 5 times on initialization, then goes to steady state.
