Peg Lowering..............

Does anyone know of a peg lowering kit for the 1200? I wouldn't mind a bit more room at times. Thanks and ride safe.

i have a set from Thurn-Motorsport. Lowers them 40mm and uses the stock pegs...have been very satisfied. www.thurn-motorsport.de

Does the 1200, have less seat to peg distance than the 800?

Dunno. It could be that I am getting older. However, it feels a bit tighter than my '07. It's fine except on longer rides.

Larry was nice enough to respond to my email. He does not have a set of lowering brackets for the 1200 pegs yet because he has not had a 1200 in his shop. Who lives near Busy Little Shop. I think he's is Central California. Anyone care to take theirs in. I would love to, but finding the weather and 3 weeks to ride out there and back from Michigan would be hard for me. Ride safe all.

I BELIEVE that it does. IIRC the 1200 seat is something like a tenth of an inch LOWER, and my guess is that the pegs are a little higher, probably because the shaft drive forces them APART a little (that is, the bike is wider near the pegs due to the shaft drive) which means that the pegs have to be higher to get the same cornering angle.

Compare the ergos for yourself at http://cycle-ergo.com/ For my height and inseam I got a couple degrees lower knee angle (that is, more cramped) on the 1200 versus the 2009 800. YMMV.

I am pretty O-L-D too (58-1/2) and I was convinced that I would have to get lower pegs (but I would have had to get helibars with a K1300S, so I figured it would have been a wash), but after 2K miles on the bike (daily commuter in everything but below 32 degrees or torrential downpour) the peg height has been mostly a none issue. One leg cramped-up for a couple of minutes after a long stoplight, but that happens all the time with my Guzzis. I suspect that I've just gotten more limber riding it every day.

Since I have longish legs (34 inch inseam) and a shortish body (~ 5 foot 11 inches tall) i used some old Bead Riders (like cab drivers use) to raise my butt about 1/2 inch. I am contemplating getting the seat reworked to raise it 5/8 to 3/4 inch or so; being so short-waisted, my shoulders are still out of the wind blast even when sitting on the beads.

When I was looking for peg kits, I found these folks; I BELIEVE that they are dealers for the THURN pegs form Germany.

Has anybody actually TRIED the THURN pegs on a VFR1200? I'm just curious what "drop" they used and whether they scrapped the pegs in "normal" street riding.
