Hello all,
I'm new to the 1200 and I just went through a 3 hour ordeal of installing a Power Commander V. The hardest part was the installation of the O2 optimizers. I have some issues with the Power Commander that I'm hoping are simple to resolve.
1. When I turn on the ignition, the bike now makes a strange shrill sounding alarm-type noise! Sounds as if it's coming from the left side of the airbox. Anyone else have this problem and does it go away?
2. Like others, at idle the PC V is showing 4% throttle, but when I open it up all the way the throttle only shows 89%.
3. When going through the full range of throttle, the percentage sticks on 23% and then jumps to 89%.
Anyone else on the forum run into similar issues? Maybe I screwed up the TPS posi-tap install?
Check the wiring from the TPS. The trottle posision is not properly connected to the PC-v. After that callibrate the "0"% position. Its done in the PC-V software
This is good post. I have to check the calibration also and see if the numbers are correct. Is the calibration an issue normally if everything seems to be running ok? I mean the installation manual says nothing that you should check the calibration after installation.
Your throttle position indicated by the PC5 should go from 0 to 100. If it's out of sync, it might not hurt anything but it definitely won't allow the PCV to work as intended.
I only had to calibrate the zero indication on mine. Take a look at the voltage at zero throttle and input that manually as the minimum voltage of your range using the PCV software.
Phobe is correct, it's pretty important to get the throttle position calibration right to get the best out of the system. I have the Two-Brothers Juice-Box Pro and it uses the same software and maps as the PC-V, in the sofware interface there is a menu to allow you to do the TPS calibration. This allows the PC-V to give the correct amount of fuel for the correct throttle position, rpm, load, temperature etc....
I know the PC-V will work fairly well without doing the calibration, but if it allows you to do the calibration, why not use it and get it spot on??

Does this TPS calibration need to be done while the bike is idling at full operating temp or can it be done anytime, i.e. engine off and engine cold? Mine is way off, as full throttle only displays 89% on the PCV software.
It can be done at idling or engine off. But do not touch te trottle. Then set to zero % . If you do not callibrate the mapping is about 4% to rich @ idle.
A tech from Dynojet hooked up to my PC V via remote desktop. All was working fine, and the voltages for my TPS were within spec. He couldn't explain the noise, although the bike still made the noise even after the PC V was completely uninstalled. I will have to live with it, although it's not audible when the bike is all buttoned up. Thanks for all the replies.
The "alarm" noise you're describing is just pressure being relieved from the fuel pump pressuring up when you turn the key on. I've heard it described in other threads, it's normal, they all do it.

Thank you!! I was thinking worst case scenario. I appreciate all the help.

Yes, my throttle indicates the same way, except the numbers are 5% no twist, then hangs at 24%, then indicates 90%....VERY ODD!
I'll have to plug back in & recalibrate the throttle. Good to know you can recalibrate idling or engine off. Good info on this thread!
I could have swore I read in either the instruction manual or the software manual (help) that I was specifically not supposed to recalibrate the TPS. However, when I saw this thread I looked back at everything and can't find that! Weird. (My mind is fading... is that burnt toast). Anyone else read that somewhere?
Anyway, I do remember that mine read about 4% at zero throttle, so I may hook it back up and recheck and calibrate.
