Hello, new (2000) VFR owner here. I am going over this bike that I just bought. Yesterday as I rode home about 75 miles of fine twisty road in the Pac NW, everything worked pertty well. Couple of questions for you all. I didn't get an owners manual with the bike, though I have downloaded the shop manual(s) from this site and perused them.
As I rode in about 60f temps, my temperature gauge was around 180 mostly, but when I negotiated a small town at 30mph the temperature indicated up to 205 and seemed to be rising still when I got through the town and back up to speed. I didn't hear any fan noise...but this is a strange moto to me, so ....Anyhow I want to check that the fan is actually working so first, I would like to check a fuse, if there is one. I tried googling the fuse location and I can not find the right owners manual online anywhere...so I thought I would ask here.
Another issue I want to look into is the forks are 'clacking' on sharp small bumps. They feel like the rebound is too soft. The handling is acceptable and the bike is not alarming, but I don't think the sharp noise and harsh clacking is going to get it for me. I have an Ohlins rear shock. The fork adjusters look to have been frequently attacked with the wrong size screwdriver by the Previous Owner, so he may have been trying to fix the ride, too....He was a real hack, I am coming to see...the bike has a crap paint job and dorky cheapo decals all over it and was grimy when I got it....but the price was right and the motor sounds great.
Thanks in advance for the help...
