It is all polder land, the Dutch have been poldering for over a thousand years.... either after draining/digging peat grounds (which would cause the land level to drop) or reclaiming from the sea. Half of our country below sea level made us inventive.



We harnassed the energy from the wind then, we still do today :laugh:

There were two "dangers" during the ride....

It is harvesting from the thick clay getting dragged on the road by tractors (slipgevaar is risk of skidding)

Next year we shall ride together. I miss it there alot.

Building a viewing tower like that anywhere in California is a total impossibility......
The "green" folk will immediately string up the Architect and Engineer that will have the "gall" (or should I say balls?) to propose such man made looking structures in the environment..... We have cell phone towers here disguised as trees ya know.......

To this day I kick myself for not heading over to Holland when I had the chance. I was in Belgium for a week for training but we did have one day that we got out of class on time and had a few hours "on our own" I.e. Our host let us have a night unguided.  There was a fellow trainee that was from Holland and he offered to show us around but a few others in our group hemmed and hawed too long and we lost our window of opportunity!

Thanks for posting these. I would love to see your country, be it on the back of an MC or anyway I could get around. I will say I did get a lot of sights in while in Belgium, so it wasn't a total waste.

In the spirit of the title of this thread, I have to point out that there's a little schmidt on your napkin :laugh:

(A German friend has a mug he brings out around Christmas time.  There's a cartoon of Santa Claus lying on a pile of broken boards, an overturned sleigh, and reindeer scattered all around.  Santa is yelling at Rudolph: "I said the Schmidt house!")

Nawww. Makes me want to go and give my youngest son (2 yrs old) a big cuddle!

Very nice.  I wondered about the pacifier too.  I'm glad your son came out of ICU OK.  I had two flight instructors from the Netherlands.  Very proficient and good guys.  Ride safe.
