Throttle Cable Length

Any one has details on the OEM length of the Throttle cable ?

I have a couple at home that I can measure for you later today.

In the meantime, you might try to find some information on Motion Pro's website. They may even answer an email if you send them one.

i did ..no trace of dimensions anywhere. Got my Helibars , the cables are a little tight hence have a spare ST1100 cables..Heard they are are longer - just checking.

In that case yes, go ahead and use your ST1100 cables. I have both and I can tell you that the cable free length is the same, and the ST cables are longer overall by about 1.5-2". Don't remember the exact difference, but they will do what you want them to do.

ST1100 cables are a perfect fit. Hardly any play in the throttle - maybe because it is new. but it works !!!!

You should be able to adjust the slack/play that you feel at the grip just as you would with the 5th gen cables - there are adjusters at both ends of the cables. The manual recommends something like 1/8" of play; personally, I really dislike that much play. I like just a hair of play before the throttle opens, but that's not for everyone.

Just double check to be sure you're not adjusted too tight, or you will have the throttle open before actually turning the grip!

What year of ST1100 did you get the cables from?
I bought a set from a '96 and the free lengths are not even close.
The outers will work so I'll probably make my own new inners the right length.

To be honest, I'm not sure what year mine are from. They came from ebay, and were not labelled with a year. Is your free length too short, or too long with your cables?

The pull cable is too long, the return cable too short.
There is enough adjustment in the pull cable to take up the slack but the other one will need the inner lengthened.
It's not a problem, I know how to build cables.
Just wondering which years apply, for future reference.

Have used a 1998/1998 cables. The Cable B - push is at its first setting and there is no further slack. Made some alterations so now have abt 1mm free play at this cable. The pull cables are perfectly fine. the push cable is a tight fit but both work fine.


The ST cables are long enough for me too move the bars further up to the edge of the fork. I think am going to make Genmar style spacers between the yoke and the handle to hold the handle in place. once i have a design in place will publish it.
