It has a bigger fuel tank and different mappings that gives it more torque in the 2k-4K rpm range. The DCT has been revised and both are now available with traction control (that can be switched off). It has LED indicators, a newly designed seat and comes in new colours:

The pics all show a DCT version so it looks like the DCT now too is available in more than one colour. Of course where the word colour is spelled color, the veefalo will only have one color option :goofy:

I want the reflash! Why didn't it come stock with traction control in '10? Don't get me wrong, I love my bike. Strong, smooth, comfortable, and "mature." However, they priced themselves out of sales success and failed to include some modern technologies on their flagship technology machine (standard traction control, smooth power band in ALL gears, cruise control, etc.). I paid $9999 for my 402 mile "used" 2010 bike. I would not have paid $15,999 plus, plus, plus. It's a great bike that was hamstrung by price and marketing. Honda did it to themselves.

I'm sorry for the rant. These are just great bikes that get little credit or sales success for it. Ride safe all.

I wonder what that "different mappings that gives it more torque in the 2k-4K rpm range" means in real life. If it is just an ECU update there is nothing new. If it is something else then I would like to have it on my 2010 also  .
#4
Now that the 800cc era of Moto GP is finally over, can we please get an RC-212v??? That would make an excellent 8th Gen VFR!!!

I guess it is the same as what you get when you have the software update that is available for the current veefalo.

@Doug, do you think you can do a trip like we did this summer on a RCV?
#6
I have had the ECU update on my 2010 bike. Seems to improve low speed fueling but I wouldnt say it has any impact on torque in the 2-4k rev rannge (not that I have had it on a dyno since the ECU update was applied). If there will be another update to remove the torque dip in first and second gear that would be very interesting, I am currently waiting for the Bazzaz Z-Bomb to fix this since I dont want to mess with the wiring but there seem to be issues getting the connectors

Yes, yes I could!!! No comfort issues that a Sargent seat couldn't fix, it is a honda after all, and not a torture rack like some other makes are!!!
#8
Do RCV's come with the knife and fork heel guard????
#9
Traction control and a trip computer.... I wonder if I can put that on my 2010 without spending a fortune? Gonna guess probably not.

I really like that titanium grey scheme.
#10
Did I read bigger tank? I wonder if that's a retro-fit too, or does it alter the plastics?
#11
Bigger fuel tank? I wonder how much it would cost to retro fit the veefalo with an updated tank?
#13
They did listen it seems.

Oh man! These bring back memories.
We used to carry one jug just like it in our car back in USSR!
And here is the car we had: (stock image)

And most interestingly, it was a rear engine V4!

Don't bother. It's only 400mL bigger, not enough to make any real noticeable difference.

I don't think the plastics are alterered, I think they just massaged the tank a tiny bit.
#15
I wonder if the footrest mounts are the same. The Xtourer ones are way lower.

That blue is really nice - but the gray is, as they say, off the hook. Wow.
#17
Any of you guys with the 10 model ever needed traction control? The extra gas would be handy out west.
#18
I must say...its growing on me, much more appealing.

400 mil? Why even bother! I guess they can't increase it to 22 litres without major alterations to the plastics.

It was a light-weight solution, and at the same time, provides me with eating utensils when needed out on the road, how many bikes can say that!!!
#22
Traction Control...... It is to heavy to need traction control. Just fix the first two Gears I don't need a throttle nanny If I want to cook tires its my money. Should have gone with a variable ABS Sensor or on off switch.

Now the dealers going to be cutting prices even more. I just bought last month. BOO :pissed: could have saved another 500 bucks I think if i had waited. I figured it wasn't going to be a change sense they released what seemed like most of the Honda Info.

Oh and why don't they have two fuel/time maps one for slogging the highway and another for sport mode.

I like my red tank.

400mL not even a pint of beer Must be one of those Cheater pub Pints were its only like 14 oz when it should be 16 oz or 20 oz Imp measure

After de-restricting the 1st/2nd gear, I'm always spinning up that rear tire from a stop when the tires are cold and I forget to warm them up. I'm sure if they added traction control then the 1st and 2nd are not restricted anymore. I hope it is a simple reflash to derestrict the '10s but I'm betting that we wont be that lucky.

Uh, 150hp, rain. Yeah, even after 41 years of riding, lots of track time and lots of rain time. I would like traction control. I would prefer it to be adjustable. However, I wouldn't mind having it on the bike. I would like cruise control as well. This bike retails at $16K and is supposed to be their technology flagship. Why aren't they on there? I also do not like the throttle nanny in 1st and 2nd. The more I ride my bike, the more I like it. Also the more I ride the more this throttle thing in 1st & 2nd piss me off. Ride safe all.

So now with this release it sounds like the traction control unit wasn't ready for the 2010 and they just wanted get the bike out so the engineering team said Clip first and second gear. We will finnish the traction control unit and put it out later.

DCT do you get a change in fuel mileage if you ride in standard.I thought it held gears longer not loaded a new fuel and timing map.

I'm talking about a map to push the fuel up to the fiat 500 range. Would like to see above 42mpg when I'm going to work would put the range of the bike at 195-200 mark.
#30
Really like the bike but it should get at least two hundred miles per tank fill. Guess to many changes would need to be made for a some what bigger fuel tank. One tenth of a gallon improvement, better than nothing I guess. It's still a hell of a bike that does not get as much credit as it deserves!

Correct: Titanium - the Spanish Honda website says it's green

"-Bigger tank: The increase is only about 400mL. That might mean an extra 4 or 5 miles. Don't bother."
Depends on whether you ride or have to push the bike those last 4 or 5 miles to the nearest fuel station

V4 Rosso: where can I find the list you are referring to?

Has anybody run across information for a re-map for Canadian customers?
#34
That list is actually all european countries, by some referred to as the UK, you know, near Kopenhagen.

Same here. I admit I'm starting to like the bike again. In addition to a larger gas tank, it wouldn't hurt if there were more color choices. The bike's been out two model years. The first year it was only available in red and now it's only available in blue. In any given year, all of its competitors are available in more than one color. Speaking of the competition, the manufacturers were all smart enough to put a decent size fuel tank on the bike. I just don't understand what Honda was thinking. Going back to the color, I prefer the black one.

For those wanting a sportier look, Honda should also consider a rear seat cover as an option. BMW finally started doing it with the K1300S (see below.) The Ninja 1000, ZX-14 and Busa all have optional or standard rear seat covers.

My god, that seat cover is the ugliest pos thing. It looks like a cancerous growth on the back, what is/was BMW smoking?
#38
I like it. It not only gives the bike a sportier look, it gives it a more balanced look as well.

The real issue is the K1300S's body style has been around since the 2005 model year. That's eight years now. It's long overdue for a makeover.
#39
That seat cover reminds me of a tarantula moulting its dead outer layer.
#40
Here's a view of the bike without it:

And here's a different angle of the seat cover:

With two model years of the VFR1200 out now, I think Honda should have offered cherry red, white, and titanium one year and black, bright red, and blue the next (or something like that.) It's not like they'd have to re-engineer anything to do that. It gives people choices.
#41
The seat cover looks good, but serves no purpose. I'd rather have a Corbin Smugger trunk to carry small stuff.

When the veefalo was introduced in 2010 it was available in three colours: red, white & silver. 2011 saw the inroduction of black and for 2012 they added blue and titanium, making it four colour choices for the 2012 model (see pics in first post). You are right that Honda doesn't need to re-engineer anything, it's just that American Honda only imports a single colour option.
#43
traction control is quite stupid to me. even the k1300s with all of its gadgets and bigger engine then the vfr doesnt have it.

traction control, automatic transmission,abs.... whats with trying to make cycles into cars?

the bmw k1300s isnt much more expensive then the vfr anyway.

You are correct. I should have been more clear and stated the one color option was for the U.S. market.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of replacement BMW comes up with. It'll also be interesting to see a shootout between the VFR1200F, Busa, ZX-14, BMW, Concours, and FJR1300. They're all good bikes.

Certain motorcycles seem to be headed in that direction. Bikes like the Gold Wing already have an air bag, cruise control, reverse, GPS, and heated seats. In certain states it probably won't be long before motorcycles are subject to the same type of annual emissions testing that is required of cars.

The K1300S may not be much more expensive but I've got a hunch parts are.

In Italy the BMW K1300S has the Traction Control as an optional (about 300 Euro).
It is not a "sport" Traction Control, it only cut power when the speed of wheels is not the same.
