Hello everyone, so I saw sa1713's post with his very nicely repainted 5th gen VFR. I noticed there were aftermarket turn signals which got me thinking does anyone know of any good aftermarket turn signals that don't stick out as far as the dumbo ear turn signals and that don't punch through multiple fairings? Thanks in advance.
Going to bump this thread because my left turn signal flew off on the highway yesterday! The fairing was already busted up around the turn signal, but I didn't think it was weak enough to cause the whole assemby to fall off. I was slabbing back after a day of fun, and I felt something hit my left knee. I looked in the mirror, didn't see anything and continued on home. When I got home I was suprised to find hole where my turn signal used to be.
Is the above site the only supplier you guys know of? Any options stateside? I might just have to fabricate my own.
Thanks for the reply. I think I am going to mold my own carbon fiber inserts, then mount LED turnsignals on the insert. The plastic mounts for the left signal are broken out, so I might as well start from scratch. Thanks for the help though!
I just got some Lockhart/Phillips turn signal marker lights. (L122-9701) Much smaller than stock, flush mount (on the fairing surface) I have to do a bunch of repair to my fairings before I re-paint any how, so I am just going to fill in the hole made for the Dumbo Ears and put these nice small black with smoke lenses where I think they look good, after I re-paint. I must say, the stock turn signals are hideous. They'd be more appropriate on a Peterbilt 18 wheeler....IMHO. Also, the taillight complex could be a bit smaller and it wouldn't bother me, but hey, love the bike, despite a couple of what I would consider poor styling details....That rather large 3 1/2" X 1 1/2" VIN tag/sticker right dead center on the left side frame spar....that is kinda 'glaring' too. http://www.chaparral.../L122-9700.aspx

Those are nice..... not grotesque like the big ol' orange stockers, for sure. I've had people who aren't even moto-heads say to me..."Wow, big turnsignals" when they first see the VFR... They must be like me...first thing I saw when I went to look at this VFer....I think it's more because they are so ORANGE....even when not lit....
I hear you on the 'visibility' thing. I had some tiny ones on my Honda Hawk that were essentially useless. I tested the Lockhart Philips I bought for brightness...they are quite bright. I make it a rule to never assume I even have visible turn signals when on my bike. Cage Drivers can't be counted on to see them, so I just try to avoid leaving myself exposed in a turning situation, and when I must do so, I keep really alert for unconscious Cage drivers and I always keep an "escape route" in mind in case I see one coming for me....Leave a bit of room to get the he** out of their way...
I think i have the same blinkers as veefer800canuck; they seem to have a slimming effect and still maintain a level of safety I also installed mirrors with led blinkers to help get the light off the ground a little more; well then i just had to get a smoked tail light to finish it off. :tour:
I read once about a certain Honda scooter having the same front turn signals as the 5th-gen VFR (the '01-'07 NSS250 Reflex), but that would only be of interest to me if they were OEM clear or something like that, but they appear to be the usual amber (half-hidden under a fairing-coloured cover). The part number is the same; I checked. Maybe other Honda scooters also used the same signal, but with a clear lens? Sounds like a research project for someone!
