Another F4 fork conversion question

I know this has been gone over plenty of times, but I can't find the exact answer I'm looking for. I'm hoping to be able to buy some slightly bent F4 (F4i) forks on ebay and use the upper tubes from my VFR to keep the cost down. The only thing I'm concerned about is the shorter rebound rod from the F4. Is this going to cause any problems? This should keep the stock fork length also, correct? While I'm in there I'm going to be installing .95 springs and rebound and compression gold valves. I really want the compression adjustment too which is why I'm hoping to use the F4 lowers instead of just dropping the guts into my VFR forks.

It's been done several times w/o issue.

The damping rod is long enough, I've done this for customers many times without any problems. In fact, I try to keep the parts on hand at all times to provide as an option for folks looking to add adjustability to their VFR forks.

I've read nothing but good things about your work, Jamie. In fact, a rebuilt 929/954 rear shock from you is basically a sure thing in my mind. I would send my forks off too, but I like to be as hands on as possible. I'm sure everyone here on vfrd understands sometimes it's not only about the end result, but the process as well. I'm out of town at work for the next month or so, but I can't wait to get started. I'd like to get your opinions on what shim stacks to use also considering the lower loading on the front end during braking. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I don't mind losing the linked brakes. I don't really notice any major difference in feel, but I'm not the guy who just grabs a handful of the front every time either. You can do a lot when you throw in some rear breaking. I figure I'll go ahead and upgrade to ss brake and clutch lines while I'm in the brake system anyway. Good excuse to tinker more.
