Hong Kong Police

I'm sure many know this - but, as I was walking the streets of Kowloon, Hong Kong there was a familiar whirring sound approaching from behind me.  I wish I snapped a better shot, but this is what the iPhone could pull off.

Now that's a nice Fifth Gen police bike!

They have a completely different dash, upper triple, tall tubular handlebars, different upper fairing with huge windscreen, LBS and ABS also.

No other 5th gen available to the public ever had ABS. Just the police bikes.

How long are you here for?

I keep meaning to get some up-close shots, but I haven't seen one parked up, yet.  As Canuck mentioned, there are numerous differences, so many in fact that they aren't even RC46s, they're RC49s.  They've got to be nearing their end of life...I wonder where the HKPD scrap yard is?

I wonder about the wiring harness and charging system upgrades to run all the police equipment?

I'd like to get a set of those saddlebags for mine.

Seems like an integrated unit for sure - purpose-built.  Engine sound, headlight and tail light were all familiar.  I was there last week and all the way back in Minnesota now where we are enjoying an early summer (and an odd winter) this year so my RC36 saw all 12 months of riding.  OK, December and January were relatively quick rides...

Regarding the end of the service life on the police bikes - probably another great testament to the gear-driven VFR since I would doubt these get a lot of high-speed highway time!
