Would this be the place to have an open discussion on pros n cons of a system for pre arranging tour layover sites.

There is lots of discussion on which National/State/Provincial parks to stay in on long cross country rides, what gear to carry, what routes to take thro' states and provinces that are scenic, and exciting for sport tour rides, what "local weather" is like on or near the time that riders may pass thro' an area.

Wrap up those factors where VFRD members wanting to offer their home to riders provide their  location, when they can offer accomodation, what they can provide for accomodation. Fellow touring riders could have a one night stop over without having to pay park/campsite fees or motel fees. No exchange of cash, just basic hospitality offered to like minded bike riders,

A host would get his or her payment when they book in to another members home on their own cross country blast. Sort of paying it forward among the VFRD community.

Is this opening up a can of worms ?? ... or is it something that can be added to the forums for folks setting up for long rides, and short budgets.

If this is a really bad idea  I am sure as hell gonna catch some flak. But ya never know unless you ask.

IIRC .... I've seen where national MC clubs even have books for members that is a directory of where someone lives and it has a dot system that tells if they have tools/garage/back yard(tent)/room/shower/etc. that other members can use if they allow it.
It would take a bit of org' to put together.

We do have a map system that shows where members live close by to their marker.

You are correct .. organizing would be a task,  But if left to the individuals with access to a specific board/forum on VFRD, a place to post what your travel plans are, inviting anyone on your route to offer you accomodation on the time you expect to be in that area. A rider could then look up the location info on the person offering the accomodation and then set up details via emails/phone calls. So the VFRD would only be acting as a medium, leaving the organization to the individuals.

I've seen that happen on here, where someone is going from a/z and looking to get a whatever on the way by posting a trip with a tentative route plan that can be off set in areas to meet up.

To the point...... To get a locked section added for this purpose, I'd suggest doing the research and layout and summit it to HS.

I'd say if it's done right I'd vote for it.......... If we could vote !

I posted up something when my buddy and I were riding around the USA and Canada but I never heard back from anyone, not a single peep. Ive been jobless for 1.5yrs traveling the states and Mexico via moto, sailboat and campervan/surfboard and while that is not anyone's problem but mine, a simple backyard to crash in would have helped me a ton on our ride. We spent quite a bit on hotels even though we motel6'd everynight. STAY AWAY FROM MOTEL6 IN WEST MEMPHIS!

Anyways, if I had a place of my own (working on it) Id put up fellow riders in a heartbeat. Maybe thats just my spirit of adventure... fellow riders passing through my area excites the living sh*t out of me and Id love to put some people up, hopefully soon in the future as I get back on my feet after my traveling time.

Id love to see somethign put together for that!!!
