What adventures are you planning this year

Well boys and girls, we are now about two weeks into spring. In So. Cal. at least, the weekend rains have finally passed, the mercury is rising, the sun is shining, and the mountains are green.

So the question remains, what journeys are you planning this year?

The closest thing I have to a plan (and trust me, even this much is a big jump for me) is a family trip up to Yellowstone, probably late May or early June. From there, my brother and I will ride around aimlessly in the mountains. If we're lucky, we might even catch some fish.

So it's your turn . . .

First up is a weekend of track riding at Barber Motorsports Park at the end of this month. That will be on the CBR.

In May myself and a couple of buddies are doing four days of riding in the Smoky Mountains. Will be on the VFR.

Hopefully more road trips and track days to come in summer months.

I plan on doing my 1st trackday here at the Icar circuit (soooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!)

I also have a week long trip with a buddy that has yet to be thouroughly planned... Cabot trail, Gaspésie, Great lakes, NW USA, not really sure yet what we will be doing but can't wait!

T-Mac 1st........... Then I might go on a trip somewhere later, I buried my Dad(95) a few days ago ....... So I'm free'd up on responsibilities for now.

I'd like to stay in the eastern mountain areas, I've crossed the USA so many times I'm tired of it, although I'd love to do the Rockies some more.

And I lied. I'm planning on a school/track day at Willow Springs (Streets) in May, probably on my FZR.

Im headed up the coast from northern California up to Vancouver BC. then headed east via Trans-Canada Highway and down through Montana through Glacier National park, Possibly stopping at Yellowstone, then through Idaho, and back through Oregon and California.

First of all, condolences Monk. I'm planning on:
1) T-Mac.
2) AMA motorcycle racing at Road America. All bikes, all weekend. For $20 you get to tour the track.
3) SumSum2. And a few extra days for exploration on the way home.
4) Occasional trips to Kansas City, and Lake Superior's North Shore.

When spring does finally arive (still at least a month off here), a bunch of day trips into the mountains on the CBR. Outside of that, looking for a few trips out to the West Coast with the VFR and then a big swing through the US that will hopefully include some time at Leguna Seca for the Moto GP. Now that I have a bike that is actually comfortable to ride, looking to put on a lot more miles.

Besides trying to do a track day at least every other month, Laguna Moto Gp is definitely on the agenda.

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into going to Japan with him in October for the Motegi Moto GP race.

Really REALLY want to make that happen! Anyone have any motorcycle rental experience in Japan?

Monk - very sorry about your father. My father passed 8 years ago and it seems like yesterday. It's never easy no matter their age.

Planning on looping through ID/Mt to CO via Lolo Pass and Beartooth Pass and if time permits a run up Pike's Peak for a summit photo, looping back through Utah (may stop for a photo op at Bonnevile Salt Flats, not sure) and Idaho. Total distance s/b about 3,700 miles.

Cogswell, when do you plan on being in UT? If it's around mid August, I can highly recommend visiting Speed Week. It's true; you won't be able to stay in a room and if your not careful the salt can be very detrimental (I'd recommend a healthy coat of WD-40 or thicker on EVERYTHING minus exhaust), but you will see some amazing stuff!

I'm hoping to get some local riding in around SoCal, like Crestline and Hwy 2 from Wrightwood to LaCanada. I picked a 99' VFR last Spring that needed a lot of TLC and have only done some short rides on it. I keep checking here for local rides. Sundays are looking good for me to go on a group ride.

I've ridden with two different track day providers, and of the two I would highly recommend "Keigwins at the track", very professional, and excellent instructors. Unfortunately they only do one event in SoCal at Buttonwillow, which has already passed. "Let's Ride" trackdays also come highly recommended, I'm planning to do a track day with them at Buttownwillow on Memorial Day, which is the only track they do. Another bonus with Keigwins and Let's ride is that Dave Moss of Catalyst reaction suspension is usually at their events to help setup your bike. That man knows his shit!

I've done quite a few trackdays with Motoyard, and they're by far the cheapest organizer, but you kinda get what you pay for. After doing a Keigwins event and seeing how professional organization runs, I don't think I'll be doing anymore events with Motoyard.

The first wknd in May I'm making my annual pilgrimage to the Deals Gap area for the 10th annual "MINIs on the Dragon". This year, the VFR goes with me, so I'll enjoy the twisties twice as much. :smile:

Monk, my condolences, I hope you have clear roads and fair weather for your trip.

I'd like to get to Laguna Seca for the GP and maybe CO for the Summit meet. Starting a new job next week after 4 months off that may just permit me some free time.

This year planing Total Control ARC and Track day at NHIS in May and MotoGP at Indy in August.

For MotoGP, the plan is to ride out with my son and spend 3 days at the track and ride back.
