Subject says it. I thought my Honda Hawk factory tool might do the job, but no dice, won't fit into the hole. My bike came without any tools. I looked on BikeBandit, but they don't specify one that will work for certain on a VFR. Surely someone sells them, but a Search didn't show any hits, either.
Go back to Bike Bandit and and go to the OEM Parts section for your bike. There will be a "tools" page there, your plug socket will be there. You may want to get the chain adjust tool while your there, too.

I found a place online, Powersports Plus, that lists a Honda tool kit. Ordered the plug wrench for about ten bucks, delivered. Interestingly, I was earlier on another site that showed the identical parts-fiche drawing of the OEM tool kit. I was seconds from hitting the sendkey when I noticed this site was going to charge me almost $20 in shipping! Sneaky.....
Then I dug through my "redundant" tools bin and found a thin wall spark plug socket that actually fit.. I got the plugs out and they looked to be pretty fresh, in the "8" heat range. I went back to the standard 9s.
