Bay Area ride. - USA - West

For those of you who don't know, this was posted in the epic ride thread.

On Saturday May 12th I am meeting up with mk2davis for the CeeCee handoff in San Francisco around noon. I think that would be a good chance for a little group ride if anyone was interested. He will be 2up so it might be a short/moderately paced ride but would be fun nonetheless! He will be headed back to Monterey later that afternoon i think so we could always break off and do a bit more riding.

Im just posting to see if there is any interest.

I am new to the area, so I am not sure where Cee Cee's is. I live in Walnut Creek, but I am available for a ride to meet some new people!

Yeah! Come meet up with us! I actually havent met any other VFRD guys either, I too, am pretty new. CeeCee will be coming up with Davis from SoCal. He will be coming up from Monterey on Saturday and we can meet up here:

Vista point. very first exit after the Golden Gate bridge going north. Saturday May 12th at Noonish

I'm in.  I look forward to meeting you all.  Vista point is good to me.  I dont know much about the roads up there, so I won't know any better anyways.  My brother just bought a VFR tonight, so I'm going to try and talk him into joining us.

TC, I already have your contact info in case things change significantly.  I don't expect any issues.

Hey guys, So I was just looking around to see what kind of ride you wanted to go on. I guess it kind of depends on how long davis wants to stay in the city and when he is going to head back to Monterey. I mapped out 3 options just as examples. i dont know how long of rides you guys normally go on so we can shorten them up if you want or do something different, or not go on a ride at all and just meet up for lunch or something.

One is a loop up highway 1. pretty twisty and not super fast but very pretty on the coast. http://maps.google.c...=1,2,3&t=m&z=11

The second is a loop down highway 1 and back up on hwy 84 pretty twisty and a really nice road. can be fast or not: http://maps.google.c...ia=1,2&t=m&z=11

And the last one could be one Davis' way back to monterey, we could ride with you down to like Santa Cruz via hwy 35. never been on it but it looks nice: http://maps.google.c...,3,4,5&t=m&z=10

Let me know if any of these look good or if you would rather do something else or something shorter. i dont really care, just some ideas.

Sounds fun, hopefully I can join in too.  I'd suggest Tunitas up 1 to 35 with a stop off at Alice's/STP.

I vote the first one, but thats because I'm coming up on the 1 on the was to SF.

I've heard great things about the roads north of the city.  And I think the duration will be perfect for me and mine.

Great! Sounds good. It's an awesome road. The only thing that might be a small problem is at the very beginning they are doing some construction so we might get stuck behind a bunch of cars. But it's a nice road to cruise and take in the scenery.

Sound like you all are going to have a great ride . I want to go but my tires are to bold and my front fork seals are shoot . Bing out of work no money to fix yet . Hope you all have a great time . I will make it out this summer I hope.

Heading all the way up to Marin is a reach for me from the South Bay with Daddy duties...but Mines may well be doable.

Did that loop today but started from the Infineon Track Sonoma. Lucas Valley Rd. west then South on Hwy1.
That slide repair at the south end of Hwy1 that limits a section to one lane is better handled traveling southbound as most vehicles were going northbound on this Sunday.
The section of Hwy1 South of Stinson Beach is just lovely!

Oh good to know. We might do that then. Are you going to join us?

DId the southern part in reverse order today.  280 in San Jose to 84 all the way to 1 and then to 92 and back to the east bay.  

If going back to Monterey, I'd suggest 1 north to 84 to 35 and then folks can decide at Alice's how far to go from there.  Either take 35 back to 92 and 101/280 North, 84 down to 280 north or  down 35 to 17 south to Santa Cruz/Monterey.  Each scenic and if you get in a hurry/tired on the way back you can take the freeway to get home faster.

Besides, lots of cool bikes to see at Alice's and a good spot to make a decision.

I definitely will have to represent the 5th Gen's next time.  

Just tried out Palomares Rd from Redwood Rd.  That section connects with 84 to Livermore and then Mt. Hamilton.
