Bah!

Was I really a BMW afficianado when I owned a R45 and a K100RS?

At Assen WSBK, BMW ran a competition in which you could win a ride on a S1000RR.  With Douglasthecook's help (walking racing encyclopedia), naming some riders that raced de Beemer was a breeze. I promised Doug that should I win, I'd post up here...

Well, fast forward to last week. Got a call from BMW Nederland; I was a lucky winner.

BUT after some friendly chitchat, the question "will you buy a new bike this year?" emerged.
Once I said no, but would love to ride the S1000RR, things cooled down. It was realy meant for potential customers only..

Having known my local dealer for a long time and realising that this "prize" would be on his and not BMW Nederland's account, I asked them to pass my info on to Arie Molenaar. That there is someone who loves to ride but will not buy.
Needless to say, no response, which I can undersand from the dealer's perspective.

So BMW, *great* competition......

yeah thats pretty poor.

Tell you what Dutchy, you can have a free ride on my S1000RR, spend the whole day on it if you want.

(you just have to get down here to ride it!!)

Pathetic!! And worthy of bad word of mouth and maybe an article in a paper or two. What a shame!!

Got a reply: it was all an "unfortunate" misunderstanding......

The prize is still there, but the draw is on the 15th, this is paid by BMW.

I was contacted last week  since I showed interest in BMW, if I want a -short- test ride I can contact the dealer.

On a different note, the -multi brand- dealer DID mail me for a test ride on the VFR1200X following my registration with Honda NL during the m/c show ealier in the year.
I will do so -and post up here- after TMAC :tour:

and credit where credit is due, my dealer phoned, offering a S1000RR test ride w/o any hook.
The RR's are not in the country yet so it will be June anyway. :tour:

Glad to hear that a demo-ride is still possible!!! I would still like a demo-ride on the RSV-4, preferrably at Spa, or Sachsenring...
