NEED PICTURE- Gen5 Unmodified Rear, specifically the reflector...

I have the rear fairing off the bike as I'm awaiting my new R&R which is due on Tuesday

Upon getting into this little job I have taken the time to remove the big steel plate that used to act as the CB antenna mounting bracket. Now that this is gone I no longer have a reflector on the rear as I had put reflector tape on the bracket to pass inspection when I got the bike.

I'm not finding a good picture of the back of a Gen5 just below where the taillight is, where the OEM reflector I suspect mounts. Anybody got one, or willing to take one? I'm cust curious what the bike originally looked like back there.

here you go.... and now you know the reason that alot of us have done a fender eliminator one way or anthoer, btw the refector is just under the red rear lights

Doug,

I haven't had any reflectors on the back of mine for the last two inspections.  The inspector has never mentioned them.  I do have reflective rim stripes.  They "may" satisfy the law for the side, but I don't have one on the rear.

I see the molded indent in the plastic way up at the top, that is exactly what I suspected went there
I think I'll wonder through Harbor Freight tonight and see what they got that will fit into that spot

Well for me I classify it as a safety thing, I want one on the back, even if I don't really have to have it, although I find it hard to believe NY would not require it, but as you know, not everybody inspects vehicles the same, after all, never before had I failed one like I did last year, because of a torn wiper blade on the pickup......

I'm not too concerned with no reflector on the back.  The license plate is reflective, my jacket and boots have reflective strips, and if it is dark out, I'll have my lights on.  The only time a reflector is really needed is if you park it on the side of the road after dark.  Something I never do.

Yea, who would have thought...

Other side pic just in case you need it. Pretty sure this is a completely unmodified state for my 98, I later covered that area with hard luggage and such.
