I ordered it from the bike shop, it's in a box with a label called Rick's Motorsport Electronics, Inc, and the other label color matched to that has the bar code, Made in Taiwan, and 10-126H
The width of the mounting holes from original to new are different by 0.5", and the new part is narrower
Now I could drill out the bike and make a new mounting hole, but as it is I can't mount it because the head of the bolts are going to be just hanging onto this thing, which means I would tighten them down a lot, and probabley crack the finned casing. Or I guess I could buy new longer bolts and cut some washers down to rectangles and mount it that way...
Has anybody else found the new R&R to be so very different in size?
And of course with the mounting being so different I just wonder if this is the wrong part for my bike
Do your wires match up? Are the plugs the same? You can use it, I'm sure. They all do the same job, although some go about it in a slightly different manner. If the plugs fit, use as is, if not, you should be able to return it...or...snip snip...solder...shrink!
I found the R/R from WireMyBike to have open ended mounting areas.
I found they lined up ok, definitely secure.
In my case, the Honda replacement R/R bolts were too long, so I had to fit the originals.
Good thing I kept them.
I had to elongate one of the frame holes, I could have mounted the R&R without doing that, but I just prefered to have the bolts not so close to the edge
I'll double check the connections again on Thursday or Friday when I get a chance to go spend some time in the garage. The plugs matched up perfect, but I forgot to verify the old and the new have the same number and locations for the connections within each plug, I'm done screwing around with it for today...
I'll call the bike shop when I get a chance and ask/tell them I'm coming over on Sat am so they can do another electrical system check
