Gday all, ive been posting on ozvfr about it, and thought id branch otu to see who else has had this problem.
I put the new stain tune design pipes on my 2011 vfr800, the bikes, new, the exhausts new.
The previous S shape exhaust has the obvious cracking, so they are now in a H sorta shape now, unfortunetly, the pipe is low, and goes across where the rear tyre suspention travels. i didnt think it would, but on a 2 up ride a month ago for the first time, i bottomd out big time, and cut the tyre open.
I put a new tyre on, upped the preload to MAX and now, its still rubbing lightly on 1 up. so it was obviously rubbing a little before. as i had worn out the centre of the oem battle axe with in 6000km,
The bike is fitted with a Sandy Decat Stainless Headers, which are similar to the OEM and have the same output pipe, the cans bolt in to origional spots, its flush against the top and cant move any further back or up.
That is odd. That tire is a 180, yeah? No linkage tweaks?
The crack I got on my mid-S-pipe was located at the hanger point welds.
Luckily, the free replacement with newer hanger design still had the S bend.
Hope it holds up.
Either way it sounds like something they'd be happy to reverse engineer.
Cheers!
after a few months, i sent a reminder email the other day, and just got this in reply,
well after i sent that email, i got thsi today,
Last week I was able to source the last new VFR I could find in NSW and have designed a fix for the clearance issue that you are experiencing on your bike. The assembly jig for the fix is currently on the schedule to be completed as soon as the material for the jig arrives. We will still require your system to make the modification, so if you could at your earliest convenience send back your system on our reply paid number(83525) I will push to get your system completed Asap. On behalf of Staintune I thank you for your feedback. I also take this opportunity to apologise for your inconvenience and thank you for your continued support of our products and company.
Ps- ive attached a pic of the modified system on the bike for you to see.

yeah standard tyre, standard suspention, no tweeks bar adjusting preload..
Nice of them to make it right, but since the VTEC 800 has been (basically) unchanged since 2002, you'd think they would have had the exhaust all figured out a LONG TIME AGO???????

most probably, but stain tune had a S shape one, that had problems with cracking in joints, so they changed the design recently. i guess they didnt think it through
