Removing windscreen lowers next to headlight

Thought about digging up an old thread about cleaning those little pockets, but I'm wondering if anyone has cut the lower portions of the windscreen out. I can certainly cut it cleanly and file/sand it to look relatively nice, but I'm wondering if it's been done beforehand. I'm probably going Puig or ZG anyway, but for some reason I want to try it. However, no reason to spend the time cutting it if it's been done and sucks. Picture below gives a little bit of a cutting guideline:

Looks to me like if you do cut there, you'll lose a lot of rigidity at the base of the factory screen...

Yeah, it's a bit of a bitch to clean around, but I'd sure hate for that screen to flap into the paint on the nose... Just a thought.

Why not paint the inside of the screen? When you decide to cut it I would first cut small naca ducts and hopefully the airflow will keep the pockets clear of debris.

I put a dark smoked windscreen on my 1200F and those pockets became invisible.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yokel you bring up a very good point that I hadn't thought about. I'll have to check where the actual mounting points are and cut accordingly. Truthfully, I'm not really interested in doing this for relief from the hassle of cleaning. I'm more interested in better airflow on hot days, and possibly less buffeting; the cleaning is a bonus. Maybe make some removable blocks for the cold season...

Could be a good spot to add in small driving or fog lamps in there, or any kind of light that can help in making the bike more cospicuous so the other drivers notice you more in traffic.

I was gong to say LEDs, but I think they're kind of tacky looking.....even when OEM on Audis and MBs....
