Hi all. I have been planning on doing a iron butt ride this summer/fall and was wandering if anyone would like to join me?
I don't have a route picked yet I am just trying to get my bike dialed in. Also even if your not interested in a long hard ride if love to meet up with some vfr riders locally for some short rides.
I am located in the Placerville California area.
Well, post up some suggested routes, I may be in. I'm just up the 49 road in Rocklin.
Edit: And we need pics of the bike or it doesn't exist.

That's right. No picture = No bike.
I recently did 905 miles in one day (and a total of 2,007 over a three day weekend.) If I remember correctly, the 905 took a little under 16 hours. I'm sure I could do 1,000 with a touring wind screen and a lot of planning.
If you think you might go through D/FW, PM me.
Definately post up a ride and route. I'm looking for an excuse to do a long ride in the Santa Cruz area or any of the areas near and north of you
I'm really wide open on what route. I was thinking of riding hiway 1 from the sf bay area to the Oregon border and coming back in a loop. Or riding to Montana, Colorado, or really anywhere. I thought it would be cool to make a loop and hit the four corners to try and hit as many states as possible.
I'm having some trouble trying to post up pics from my iPhone. Trying though.
Just over 17 hours on my 1030 mile ride.
Just over 19 hours on a just over 1247 mile ride.
Just over 21 hours on a 1060 mile ride with a group of other riders.
All those were interstate or major 4 lane divided highway. I am doing a SS1000 instate on two lane later this year which should be a fun challenge. I expect it to take 22 hours give or take.
Doing it as a group really slowed us down. It was much less stressful and much more relaxed to do it solo.
My VFR is being re-purposed to be a better long range ride. New seat, hard bags, lower pipe higher wind screen and comfier grips. Should be ready soon. Fork seal leaking and shock rebuild are due as well. It was set up for track and sport but have to admit it is one comfortable all day sport bike.
Did you figure out a route? Any specific dates you were looking at? I would be willing to join in August sometime. I thought it would be fun to do a ride up to Vancouver before it gets too wet
