Exhaust Shield removal how to?

Hi all!
About to start the partial exhaust gut, but I have a small roadblock

How do you remove the exhaust covers????? I've been searching for like, 1hr without success. Needless to say this is very frustrating since every where I see the exhaut gut how to, but no where do I see how to actually remove the chrome covers...

They don't lift off, they slide off. I'm sure you've already removed the two allen bolts. That being said, find something to start tapping the end of the heat shield closest to the motor. The direction you want to tap them is toward the back of the bike.

While drilling around the exhaust pipes the drill bit just fell IN THE EXHAUST. GRRrrrr!!! :angry:

I've been shaking the thing for the last 20min.... this is turning out NOT to be the mod I was looking for!

Any suggestions????

Now its either to cut up the thing, re-weld or get a new exhaust?

dang... with the dremel cost, accessories etc... this is turning out ot be quite expensive
