I just bought a new 2012 Honda VFR 1200F. I have changed the stock grips with Pro Grip 719's that have the blue color in them which matches the color of my bike quite nicely. I bought these grips based on things I had read online that they would be bigger in grip diameter then stock and they are not. They look nice, feel nice and fit well but just are not big enough in circumference.
I have not had much luck with finding something in the same type of grip as the Pro Grip 719's that will provide what i am wanting, bigger more comfortable diameter, some some color and style that is better then the stock grips without getting too crazy about it. I have added chrome bar ends also which look great.
The only grip I have found so far is from a company called Kuryakyn. They make a 6234 ISO Grip for sport bikes with 7/8' handlebars and no longer then 4 5/8" grip length. They also have a 6238 chrome bar ends that match up nicely with the grip. It will work on my VFR but it is pricey at $69 for a set of grips and $39 for the chrome bar ends. They are stylish and definitely have the bigger diameter grip size I am looking for. I have seen them at the dealer I bought my bike from. The diameter is nice.
I am reluctant to buy them because of what I already invested in the chrome bar ends I already have, and the high cost of the Kuryakyn grips. Also these grips look more like they belong on a Harley then my new VFR and i don't wnat to buy something everyone else has on their bike. So I want to exhaust all possbilities of finding a grip in the Pro Grips 719 class of grip that will provide with what I am looking for.
I enlisted help from the parts department at the dealer, emailed Pro Grips with my question and they are based out of Italy. Dealer couldn't help and Pro Grips won't respond back to me.
So I resorting to the this VRFDiscussion site to see if anyone out here has a solution. I just can't believe there isn't some company out here that has solved this kind of problem from questions and concerns of customers who purchase these products.
