So I have a set of scopion pipes on my 02 6th gen. What is the best way to make them black? Can I get away with grill or header rattle cans or do I have to get jet hot?

I painted my muffler last winter with black header paint. It still looks fine.
When I gutted my can. I painted it with flat black (Timmy that's for you) bbq rattle can. @ years later and about 10k miles it still looks fine. Make sure you scuff them up with emery cloth and clean the pipes really well before spraying. After its dry it will smoke the first time it is heated (can said it would) this is the paint curing.
Nice!!! Thank you gentlemen. I knew the paint could most likely withstand the temp, but I figured someone would have tried and knew from experience. Winter projects abound. The transformation into a storm trooper VFR is taking shape nicely as the stack of parts grows and grows...

Any photoshop images of the concept you are trying to do?
