OK, we have swapped a set of Super Hawk forks onto MiniC's VFR.
We had to becasue of another mod that he is doing has forced us to remove the PCV plumbing for the linked brakes. SO no linked brakes, upgrade the front calipers to RC51 SP2 and matching master.
Problem number one, does nayone know of a fender that is close to VTR1000 Super Hawk bolt style while being the wider physical dimensions needed for the VFR fork spacing? He hated the blocky VFR fender anyway so we are not popping for some fabricated fender brackets to bolt the ugle 5th gen fender onto the new forks.
FZR? Old School CBR? any ideas? Anyone with a few older std fork bikes to take some pics?
The Super Hawk forks are standard not USD so the I am pretty sure the RC51 front fender won't fit. Anyone around South Atlanta have an F4i so we can test Seb's hypothesis?
I have an FZR1000 fender you are welcome to chop up. Other than that, I also have access to literally hundreds of fenders, so post some dimesions and I will go through the pile.
CornerCarver--- If you get to the point of throwing up your hands and say "effe it" -- somewhere buried in a file I still have the CMM data on fhe differences between the VFR and VTR fender mount points and a drawing on this stuff.... [image: Posted Image]
- The most expensive fender brackets on the planet..
- For reference - I did the whole VTR fork leg/ SP2 caliper and MC swap, there might be some ideas there. You have to do some minor
grinding on the fork leg mounts for the calipers to fit up. -- Essentially you grind off the casting draft angle material on the caliper mount on the lower fork boss, and then, just a bit on the matching lower area on the caliper. Kinda goes like. Loosely bolt to the top mount boss, swing down, check your grind work with bolt hole line up, unbolt both, grind just a bit more, repeat. A Dremel is the perfect tool. (The top mount goes untouched.) - You'll probly want to paint things after you're done.
I know that the spacing of the VTR1000 forks are exactly the same as the 4th gen forks, if that helps.
I know because I installed a Japanese made fork brace on my 4th gen that was originally designed for the Superchicken.....
