Honda is apparently going to produce a road-going version of the RC213V.  Not much of a surprise given its "V" website.  Supposedly expensive, like the Desmosedici.

I guess that means Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Jay Leno will have something new to add to their collection.

Will it be a V4 or V5?  Will it be an RC55?

If it is 1000 cc or so it will be an SC, RC is the designation for under 1000cc buikes.  The VFR1200 is an SC63 so maybe this will be an SC65....

Except in America, where it will be the RC52, regardless...

Ciao,

For some time I've been privy to the growing voices inside Honda for a
new race bred V4 along the lines of their RC30 / RC45... for the
buyers sake I just pray to the HRC gods that its more of the RC45
architecture than the RC30...
#6
I highly doubt the new bike will resemble RC30 or RC45 architecture in any way shape or form, other than having a V4 and two wheels anyway.  I would guess the engine in the new bike will be more closely related to the VFR1200 engine, at least as far as V angle is considered.  I can't see Honda going back to a 90 degree V4 this late in the game, things have definitely moved on as far as engine packaging, bike size, etc.

I just hope  its competitively priced with an RSV4 factory, or Panigale S etc.  I'm not going to get very excited about a 60K RC213V replica.

Oh great... a rich person's bike.

Honda's new race bred V4 may resemble the RC30's paint scheme but the
engine architecture will resemble the RC45... after all it was the
base for the MotoGp RC211V V5 because HRC designs are evolutionary not
revolutionary...

There is no right or wrong angle when selecting your V4... the
engineer is free to select a narrow angle 75º with power robbing
shafts or a simple 90º with out power robbing balance shafts...

Quote Kevin Cameron:
"As many have noted (including Jeremy Burgess) the original RC211V
V-Five  was just a developed V-Four RC45 Superbike engine with an
added cylinder"

Quote Rossi's crew chief Jeremy Burgess:
"The Honda is the V5, if you look an it closely, has a lot of the
architecture of the RC45/RVF750 with another cylinder attached."

I like rich mans bikes, they play with them and sell them cheap :)

Let's hope this does not become NR though: overpriced, heavy and slow

About time too!
Hope it wipes the floor on the circuit and gives us a fresh class to race in...

Ill stick with my poor mans version for now ty....

I just road a Ducati 999R last week and found it invigorating.
Thought about starting to save up for one and put it on the goal list.
Maybe by the time I'm ready, this will be real, be out and be accessible.

+1 to Timmy's comment. I'll watch & chuckle.

It needs to have gear-driven cams or I'll be disappointed.

AND NACA ducts.

I'm anxious to find out which oil will be best for it.

Tuono APRC V4.

999 will seem like a moped after that...

not 100% gear-driven, but gears are present

As much as I love the RC45, there ain't no way in hell the '45 and 211V engines are related to one another(except the family relation of course ;) ).  All you have to do is take a look at pictures of both of the engines to see the obvious dissimilarities.  V angle is totally different as quoted here from an official Honda site http://world.honda.c...211V/evolution/ @ 75.5 degrees.  The 211V has a stacked gearbox, the cylinder heads are completely different.  Maybe the port shape is similar?  Who knows, but they definitely went a different direction with this engine compared to all the previous Honda V4's.  I think J. Burgess was either misquoted, or having a bit of fun with whoever he was talking to at the time. That being said, I'd still have an RC45(with all the kit parts of course!) over just about any other bike built in the last 30 years!

And Aprilia does have a full gear driven cam upgrade available for their V4 as well!

The 1200 doesn't have balance shafts. Balance achieved with offset crankpin.
#23
To me, the 1200 engine looks VERY similar to the RC211V engine with the exception of the shaft drive, cylinder heads, and 5th cylinder of course.  V angle is almost identical at 76 degrees IIRC.
#25
The 1200 could be the base engine with the rumored dohc heads. The 1200 is supposed to be smaller and lighter than the 800 vtec. However with dohc it might not be smaller anymore. Just thinking.

I see where that bit of inside trivia surprises you but I cleared it
with Burgess in person... he wasn't miss quoted and he wasn't
joking... his RC45 to RC211V claim are backed up by respected Moto
journalist Kevin Cameron and Neil Spalding...

Quote MotoGp Tech 2
Honda have admitted that the internals of their
RC211V started off very similar to their RC45 superbike

Honda has confirmed that the basic specifications of the engine were
similar to the RC45 race bike. An RC45 and additional front cylinder
would displace 936cc, and its power output would be more than enough
as a starting point for a 990cc MotoGP engine - somewhere in excess of
200bhp. It would be relatively simple to stroke the engine slightly to
attain the maximum 990 capacity...

I wouldn't be surprised if Honda disappoints again.....
Since old man Soichiro died, it seems to be the pattern they have been following with their bikes and cars.......year after year after year...
It will be overpriced, heavy, underpowered and maybe even ugleh!.....

Sorry Larry, I'm not buying it.  Looks like we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one!  Beautiful bike though!  Trade you a Daytona and an NC30 for it!  ;)
