Flexible link pipe

First Up - Hullo All! Thanks for having me etc etc...

Wanted to pick your collective brains regarding exhaust link pipes for a moment. 

Here in the UK its getting very hard to find decent aftermarket exhaust systems to the point that Ive given up on the Staintune dream and am looking at alternatives. I was hoping to source a high level can but then I bought some throw over panniers so that is no longer an option. Now Im thinking, a left exit pipe could be the answer (Honda really should have done it originally IMO).

That creates a problem finding a link pipe. Googling doesn't reveal much and I cant imagine it would be cheap to get one custom made. 

Call me hairbrained, but is there anything stopping me using a length of flexible exhaust pipe (eg http://www.flexiduct...l_hoses_17.html) to do the job? I guess it could even be lagged which could help the aesthetics. I'm thinking that it wouldn't stand out that much whilst snaking around the back of the engine. 

Thoughts/Ideas appreciated!

I think it will be very aesthetically challenged.

I had this custom underseat midpipe fabricated locally for about what one would pay anyway for an existing production aftermarket exhaust. No reason why someone couldn't fab a left exit for you, especially if you provided lots of pictures.

Thanks, one of those is fairly close to me so have emailed them to get an idea of price. I think I may agree with you RE the aesthetics of flex!

I dont understand why there aren't more L/H exit conversions knocking about, I cant find many examples of people who have done it. Maybe I'm not so good at internet research!

Two brothers made a LH exhaust years ago.

Sandy bike spares also makes one currently, but one of our members bought one and the joins in the pipes were very crude. They blew a rough hole in one pipe about 1" in diameter and then welded the other pipe on top of that, leaving the crude hole you could see down inside. No attempt to match the diameter or make the merge clean and neat.

Yeah I saw the thread about the Sandy Bike Spares kit, definitely budget but the poster seemed pretty handy with a MIG. 

I got a super fast response from the guys at Campbell Customs, £90 for the L/H exit, pretty reasonable.

Whoah, $142 bucks? That's just the pipe, with no end can right???

Haha, yeah. Stock one is £50 and the only high level one I have seen is £170 so that's pretty well down the middle. Sounds like manufacturing is a little cheaper in Canada? What did yours come out at? It looks a little more complex that what I am after. 

I guess I could try a small engineering firm instead, trouble is they probably want a pattern or drawing which presents a problem.

Oh no, 90 pounds is good!

I paid $350 cdn just for the custom fabricated mid pipe which included ceramic costing, but not the two end cans. I already had bought them elsewhere.

So for you, it's "cheap as chips".

May take this route on mine as can even manage to source a high link pipe std side!!

If the flex pipe is wrapped with header wrap, I'm not sure it would look much different than a regular pipe.
