Quick, Fast, Agile...!!!.....Mitzie and I rode the Gold Wing F6B and Her New PCX150 Scooter over to Pioneer Honda yesterday. The Trip was supposed to be to just pick up the Registration and License Plate for Her New Scooter, but I heard the words "just the guy we've been waiting for" as we walked in the door...soooooooo, while Mitzie helped my Buddies Jim Posey and Jim Crow sell Her old PCX125 Trade-in to Our Friend Otis, and sell a pair of 750 Aero Cruisers to a pair of young MSF "Newbie" Riders, I headed off to spend about an hour on board the New CB1100.....

Mitzie talking to one of the "750 Aero Buyers".....

Me, really reluctantly leaving the CB1100 back into the Shop Bay after the Test Ride, but giving it the "Thumbs Up".....

Like usual, my Test included a through Town Traffic Negotiation, then out onto some favorite Country Twisties, and eventually Monteagle Mountain. Some of us "old enough" to remember lotsa' seat time aboard CB750s in the 70s will find the seating, handlebars, pegs, round instrumentation very familiar..."but"...the familiarity leaves immediately upon firing up the I-4 powerplant...You can "hear-n-feel" the horsepower. This Bike has maybe the quickest, sharpest, immediate throttle response of any Motorcycle I have personally ever ridden. When You "give it gas", You really "GIVE IT GAS"...!!!...Totally no surprises here, and the Bike feels sooooo light under You. Just ride the road, look ahead, it takes You exactly where You're looking, smoothly, and crisply. Lays over on it's side through corners without You ever doing much of anything. For You "other 5'7" or so Riders" out there, I sit bent kneed and flat footed at stoplights. Do I like this Bike...??? I REALLY LIKE THIS BIKE...!!!...Try to find a Demo Ride somewhere if possible...You may find out why Your Dad/Grandfather spoke so highly of His old CB750, but You'll enjoy the Modern Fuel Injection, Oil/Air Cooling, Brakes, and New Power afforded by New Technology......See Ya', skuuter.....   :fing02:

After bombing around on the Tiger 800 (when I can pry the girl off) last year I have been thinking how much I would like to have one of them there retro-rides. I am constantly amazed at just how quick you can hustle an old-school style bike with new-school suspension and tires.

I just sold the CL160. Now the cb has started to get my attention. I need space, not more bikes.

Appreciate the review!  The CB1100 is a looker and it's nice to hear the ride is solid too.  I would love to have one in my future.

Yes...THAT one!!!!!!!!

I want this one!

I've been lusting for that bike for a long time. Since I can't have one of these, this newer version would substitute perfectly. If honda were to make those, I'd be first in line with a check in hand.

I want this one!

Looks like you with a hat  Dutchy, brother ?

David, funny you mention horsepower. Because this new bike with its fancy fuel system actually has LESS horsepower than the original CB1100F! Talk about a bummer!

The new bike is also way overpriced... if the MSRP were more realistic, around the $8-9k mark, I would consider buying one and adding a set of 1983 bodywork along with a motor massaging.

Probably would be a lot easier and cheaper to put a set of those wheels on a 1983... hmm...

Yeah, "BUT", having owned and ridden the Originals, the New One has waaaaay quicker/snappier throttle response....feels much quicker, and some great engine braking.....the Bike overall feels a lot lighter than the Originals.....Lota' Fun to ride Seb.....

Curious to see how it will compare to the 900 I built.

It wont - the new one has so many lowball cost components on it.--- It seems to be great as the classic UJM for nostalgia.

--- Damn Seb, your bike is beautiful. You got the John Player look going on. - Mbe add some very minor red (gold?)pin stripe stratigically located on the tank and mbe the side cover and would call it quits.

btw - does it make beautifull sounds yet?

Dont remember the problem but they had a lot of motor problems with the first Suzuki 1200 .

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to ride it. Some of the numbers Honda came up with just don't work for me.

Curious to see how it will compare to the 900 I built.
