North of Amsterdam, its luscious green fields have been feeding milk cows for a long time. And that means cheese!   [image: m1cz09fa8c8d_large.jpg]   It is also a town, like Gouda and Edam are.    [image: 8]

The sandy soil near the coast/to the north suit the cultivation of flower bulbs. In a week or so, all the flowers will be cut and discarded; it is the bulbs that will be sold.   [image: 6]

Closing with a solemn moment. Tomorrow (5th May) we celebrate the end of WW2 in the Netherlands. Today is "Dodenherdenking", where we pay honor to those Dutch(wo)men, military or civilian, who lost their lives during war and peacekeeping operations since the outbreak of WW2.   [image: 10]

I'm a big fan of Dutchy's posts and photography, but lately they've been pretty cheesy. MInd you, the young lady in Beemster is "very special" (thank you, Google translate) and does have rather attractive ... wheels of cheese.  :goofy:
